About this property

Rodney Retreat, Ramsgate Kent. Great location.

In a quiet location just off the ever popular Addington street, with its cafes, a fantastic boulangerie, pubs and quirky independent shops and galleries this tranquil and tastefully decorated Victorian house is within short walking distance to all that Ramsgate has to offer, making it the perfect place for families, couples, or indeed anyone seeking a relaxing getaway by the sea. Walking: Cafes and restaurants 1-2 mins Waitrose - 2 mins Harbour - 3 mins Beaches - 8 mins Train - 20 mins A petit and peaceful Victorian terraced house, it’s set over three floors with three bedrooms including a king-size master with an ensuite bathroom, a double bedroom, and a single bedroom. An office and dedicated workspace on the second floor offers fast and reliable Wi-Fi, and can provide a further single bed on request. Downstairs a comfortable living room opens to a well-appointed kitchen, with range cooker and dishwasher. The fridge, microwave and washing machine can be found next door in the utility room, through which you’ll find the downstairs loo. Double doors from the kitchen open out onto a cosy courtyard garden, kitted out with a table and chairs, charcoal BBQ , perfect for summer evenings. The Area The property sits within ‘Ramsgate Old Town’ in a quiet and peaceful street off the ever-popular Addington Street, a stroll along which will bring you to a promenade with a fantastic view of the harbour, beach, and the seaside bars and restaurants. Here you will find yet more restaurants - Italian, French, Thai, ice creams and an award-winning traditional café - all with alfresco dining to enjoy the views. A short walk further on will bring you down to the harbour and the spacious, clean and sandy main beach, ‘Ramsgate Sands’. To the right there are beaches with rock-pools for crabbing, all-year-round dog-friendly beaches, and the original, now re-purposed bandstand filled with water and pedalos where you can enjoy craft ales and fresh, homemade pizza. A large Waitrose is a 2 minute walk away, with an Iceland also within walking distance. The location is perfect for accessing everything you might want within walking distance, so you can forget about the car. From Ramsgate you can explore the diverse neighbouring towns and beaches easily by car, taxi or train – The Tate gallery, vintage vibes and Dreamland festivals in Margate, boutiques in Broadstairs, surfing at Joss bay, Sandwich and Deal, and Whitstable's famous oysters… The list goes on. Self check-in. Guests can access the house without needing to coordinate with us for their arrival anytime after 4pm and we do offer earlier check-in times whenever possible. Fantastic part of Ramsgate, which in itself is probably the best kept secret of a coastal town ever. The area has a great vibe to it. Lovely working harbour. Sandy beaches. Margate is short cab, bus, train ride away and is really different and interesting too. Broadstairs in the other direction and as close is totally different again. Further afield you also have Sandwich, Deal and Whitstable. All close and with their own charm. Parking and travel There are several direct train lines to Ramsgate, including the high speed HS1 from London Kings Cross. From the train station it’s a 20min walk, or a 5min cab to the property. For those driving, there is free street parking. It’s a narrow and quirky street but there is pretty much always a free space, usually at the end of the street or most of the streets nearby.
