Horrific!

I'm 74 years old,and was looking forward to a wonderful vacation in Thailand. Recently retired,I had heard about Vrbo as an alternative to hotels. After researching the area I wanted to stay in, I found a condominium in a high rise complex called the Riviera. I booked it, paid for it in full, and was given a confirmation number. My instructions were to contact the host to make arrangements for checking in. After a long 2 day flight, I arrived in Bangkok and texted the host. Her reply was please cancel. What do you mean cancel, I have no place to stay! No explanation, just cancel, ask for a refund and complain. It absolutely ruined my entire trip!
