A beautiful rose beyond its bloom. Not recommended.
I've stayed in vacation rentals in many countries and am a host/owner of several units myself. This ranks on the low end in my multiple experiences. First the positives. Location and resort are fabulous. A magnificent property in terms of design, layout and spaciousness for our large group. Housekeeper was amazing and kept us in pristine linens and towels and cleaned with a smile. Owner was prompt and pleasant during communications. But the house is well past its prime and in need of lots of love. Small improvements would have made a difference. For example, beds were rock-hard and pillows had been washed so many times they had turned into balls of rubber. Shower tile grout moldy in places and in need of industrial level cleaning. Furniture has been used hard, meaning stains, worn cushions, etc. Kitchen cabinet doors falling off the hinges, with doors so sticky it took me two hands of pulling to open. (No criticism of the housekeeper, these required a deep clean). No access to washing machine at night, it was locked off when housekeeper left. Owner attempted to impose an electricity use charge (not disclosed on listing) resulting in several annoying calls to VRBO. We did agree to pay for filtered water for the week, a grand total of 25, but it seemed petty in the context of the several thousand-dollar rental fee. Bottom line, with all the great choices at Casa de Campo, this is not one to which I would return.
