Summary:
It’s not often you get to stay in a castle by the beach, and Glenfeadon is extra special. Backed by woodland and boasting beautiful sea views, this is your very own corner of paradise. Revel in all the unique features that are found throughout; from exposed stone walls and beams to arched windows and wooden floorboards. Meanwhile, stylish contemporary touches add luxury and elegance. In the evenings, sit out in your peaceful courtyard and enjoy a starlight soak in your alfresco bathtub - bliss.
The Space:
Situated less than 500 metres from Portreath Beach, Glenfeadon Castle is like no other. Originally a folly, stunning sea views can be enjoyed from almost every window. So even if you’re not at the beach, you can still feel a sense of its calm and wonder.
Characterful features, such as exposed stone walls and arched windows, are a nod to the building’s past. Meanwhile, brass fittings and fixtures blend harmoniously with mid-century furniture and rich pops of colour to give a contemporary edge. Enjoy cosy nights in the living space, snuggled up on the sofa with the wood burner roaring. There are views across towards Gurra Rock. Rustle up delicious homecooked meals in your luxurious kitchen, equipped with a Bosch electric oven, induction hob and a Tassimo coffee machine. Then when it’s time to retreat to bed, take the hand crafted cast iron spiral staircase down to the lower floor.
This quirky, curved bedroom oozes peace and serenity with a green-washed ceiling and crisp white walls. Sleep soundly in the comfort of your king-size memory foam bed and wake up to peaceful views of the trees. The en-suite features slate flooring and a walk-in waterfall shower, as well as a mid-century vanity unit and sleek black finishes.
As if the inside wasn’t enough, the newly landscaped gardens offer views of the sea. Soak in your very own cast iron roll-top bath under a sun shade, and cool off after long days on the beach with an outdoor shower. In the sunken patio area, you’ll find a firepit and BBQ with two chairs for alfresco meals. Plus, one parking space is located next to the bridleway.
Guest Access:
Guests have access to the whole property and garden.
The Neighborhood:
Glenfeadon Castle is located a stone’s throw from Portreath Beach on the north coast of Cornwall. Referred to as a hidden gem, it was originally a traditional fishing port and the small harbour can still be found in the heart of the village. Today, however, it remains a quiet haven that’s perfect for a relaxing coastal getaway. Within walking distance from the castle, you’ll find a number of cosy pubs and cafes - such as the Portreath Arms, Basset Arms and The Terrace. Meanwhile, the expansive semi-circular beach is a hotspot for surfers and watersport enthusiasts.
Walkers will also be in their element as the South West Coastal Path can be picked up from the front door, following along the coast up towards St Agnes or down towards Godrevy and St Ives. All make lovely day trips to boot, with St Agnes’ thriving food scene and surfing, Godrevy’s unique seal colony, and 3-mile beach. You can reach so much of this stunning stretch of coastline by car within 15-30 minutes. Equally, Falmouth, The Helford Passage and Mylor Creek on the south coast are all within a 30-minute drive and offer plenty to explore. From sub-tropical gardens to water-side pubs and pretty beaches. Find more local tips and tricks in our Guest Guide, which is available upon booking.
Getting Around:
Due to the remote nature of Cornwall, we would recommend bringing a car for your stay. There is a dedicated parking space located next to the bridleway.
Other Things to Note:
Please note, the bath tub is the one outside, it is not inside the castle itself.
