Sea salt cottage on the West Island

Come create beautiful memories in our completely remodeled and updated home on West Island. Step back in time where your worries are carried away as you bike along the island roads, walking to one of the five beaches, hiking the trails to secluded beaches, kayak Buzzards Bay or Nasketucket Bay, watch the beautiful sunsets or sit around a campfire. West Island is an undiscovered gem that is an hour drive from Boston without the hassle of the bridges or traffic of Cape Cod. Over half the island is State conservation land offering many trails and wildlife.
Our coastal island dream home is like a tiny slice of heaven. Sea Salt has a large cathedral ceiling open concept kitchen dining area with all brand new stainless steel appliances, living room with gas fireplace, 60 inch HDTV , WiFi, three bedrooms ,walk in rainfall shower, full sized washer and dryer ,all make up the inside of our home.
Relax on the back porch overlooking a lush landscaped partially fenced yard, grill local caught seafood on outside gas grill , enjoy dining under the stars in our sea shelled dining area, sit around a natural rock fire pit or let your cares wash away in an outside spa, complete with rainfall shower and an antique claw foot tub with hot and cold water. Once here you may never want to leave.
For your convenience we provide beach towels, beach chairs, cooler, reading books and some board games.
Within 4 miles you will find large supermarket chains, department stores and restaurants. There is a ferry located at both Fairhaven and New Bedford that can take you to Martha's Vineyard or Nantucket.

Our family loved our time at Sea Salt Cottage. The listing was just as described, the community was so cute and the beaches were beautiful. Everyone we met on West Island was so nice and accommodating. Our hosts were super communicative and gave us a ton of recommendations about the island and surrounding areas. Our five year old son didn’t want to leave! We will definitely be visiting again!

Relaxing get away

West Island is unique, sweet, quiet spot. Perfect to relax, spend time with family and enjoy outdoor activities. Beaches all near by and we found wonderful tennis/pickle courts at the beach at State Park Fort Phoenix just a 15 minute drive. Beth is as super helpful with any questions about the area and the house. The house had everything you could think of in the kitchen. We loved the fire pit for s’mores. Overall, just what we were looking for.

Perfect beach getaway

Sea Salt Cottage is beautifully designed and decorated, and has everything you need for a relaxing getaway: beach, porch sitting area, firepit, outdoor shower, bright and spacious kitchen, quiet neighborhood, ice cream shop and restaurant within walking distance, and more. This was our fifth stay here, and we will be back!

Lovely cottage

we loved our stay at Sea Salt Cottage- the property was well kept and very clean. The kids enjoyed smores every night at the firepit, bike rides around the island and ice cream from West Island Creamery. Beth was also a very responsive host. Highly recommend a stay here- the cottage brought us back to our New England childhood!

Amazing first VRBO experience

This was our family of 4 first experience with a VRBO and it was amazing. The Sea Salt Cottage had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. We loved riding the bikes through out the island and the other amenities the cottage offered. Beth, the owner, was so easy to communicate with and offered so much information for activities to do in the area. I would highly recommend to anyone thinking of staying here.

Check in was easy. Host sent the key code on the day of arrival with information and helpful hints for the area. Kitchen is stocked for ANYTHING you may want to prepare from cookout to lobsters to baking. The home design takes everything into consideration- and it is all immaculate and aesthetically enjoyable. Beds are comfortable, linens are high quality (we really appreciated not having to pack beach supplies ( towels, chairs etc) also LOVED that there were plenty of great beach bikes! We rode every day. There was Nothing lacking. I have been in many homes on the island and this one is exceptional.

Sea Salt Cottage is a Gem!From the moment we arrived, everything felt just right. The cottage was spotlessly clean and the thoughtful layout made it feel spacious, yet cozy. Every room was super comfortable, and the amenities were top-notch - everything we needed was already there, and it was all well-stocked.The yard was fantastic - perfect for relaxing and playing too! We especially loved the deck off the primary bedroom. Really comfortable furniture, plus an overhead fan for a breeze. We loved being just a short walk from the beautiful town beach and scenic trails, and the adorable ice cream shop at the end of the street was a sweet bonus.Our hosts, Steve and Beth, were incredibly attentive, making sure our stay was enjoyable. The whole experience was so peaceful - we couldn't have asked for a better experience. Highly recommend!

Perfect beach getaway

Beth & Steve are amazing hosts! Sea Salt Cottage is a true gem. The location can't be beat: only a mile from the private beach on West Island and only 15 minutes from the New Bedford ferry terminal. The house is so comfortable inside and out, with a gorgeous kitchen, a cozy back porch, outdoor shower, swing, lawn for games, and a firepit. Our family has stayed at Sea Salt Cottage for four years in a row and can't wait to go back next year!

I want to keep this short and sweet so I will just say, sea salt cottage is as beautiful and relaxing as the pictures make it look! The area of the location is wonderful, the beach is so close, and everything you could possibly need for your stay is at this house. Perfect New England getaway for friends. Beth was so helpful and responsive, and she gave us so many great suggestions. 100% would stay again.

Fabulous host and house

I rented the house to attend my daughter's wedding and it couldn't have been a more perfect home away from home. Kitchen was well stocked and the house was decorated beautifully. The host was very responsive and helpful. Bikes and cornhole came in handy!!

Beach vibe and feels like home

We LOVED our stay here. The house is beautiful with sooo many amenities...outdoor shower, swing, stunning back yard with flowers, playtoys, grill, comfy beds, awesome cafe porch, and a fully stocked and equipped kitchen. It's a great location too. Beth was very responsive and timely, as well as helpful for recommendations. You must eat at Off the Hook and take in the live music! Thank you Beth and Steve for sharing your beach home with us! We plan to return for sure!

Wonderful getaway!

We had a fantastic stay! The house is warm and inviting, well-maintained and beautifully decorated, very clean and stocked with everything we needed. The kitchen is definitely a highlight (of many highlights!), and the backyard was perfect for outdoor dining and play. We also loved West Island - beautiful and perfectly quiet, with easy access to trails, beach, and gorgeous views. Beth was very helpful, providing great suggestions for what to do, and also responding promptly to my questions. We really loved our stay at Sea Salt Cottage and would absolutely stay again!

A true gem

Every five star review for this home and the people who own it is well deserved. This is the only home I’ve ever rented where the reality was better than the description. It truly is a special place where every detail is considered. The owners are thoughtful, friendly and go above and beyond in every way imaginable. The home is comfortable, warm and inviting and an oasis away from everything, while being close enough to everything a person could want or need. I feel so fortunate to have found this special place and will definitely return.

Husband and wife team who love to turn around that worn down old house, old cottage or old camp and create a space filled with attention to all the little things. We find so much joy in planting flowers and trees and watching them grow around our yard. Well, I get the plants and place them and Steve ends up planting and digging way more than I do. Lol. Steve loves architecture, building and creating new spaces and I love designing and decorating and searching for unique treasures. Together we have created Sea Salt Cottage .

Why they chose this property

I, Beth sell real estate, and I am always asking my husband Steve to just look at this one property with me. I grew up in Maine near the oceans and lakes and water of any type has drawn me to it . I decided to look for ocean property anywhere before the bridges of Cape Cod. I didn't want to deal with the traffic of the Cape. I saw a listing that read, do you want to live on an island? West island is all the great feelings you had growing up as child where summers were endless. I wanted to create an atmosphere that bought back the whimsy of a childhood, the time worn love of all things old, the pure radiance of color in all things new, in a place where all around you created a peaceful ocean mood . My design started with the custom hand blown lights in the kitchen created for me from Providence Art Glass and just evolved from the colors blown into this glass and all the items I searched for and found along the way. It was so exciting to see this house transform into what you will find today.

What makes this property unique

When I travel I always look and love to find the unique place with all the little details that together form exactly what I dreamed about or imagined from that great book, a place where my family and I would look back in years to come and remember that was a perfect beach house and an amazing vacation holiday. This is my wish for you.
