Located in a quiet residential street, yet only 5e minutes’ walk from Oban town centre, Creag Chat has been thoughtfully renovated by the owners. Throughout the cottage there are beautifully co-ordinated soft furnishings which complement the modern interior. Equally suitable for a couple or a family, guests will find that Creag Chat more than lives up to expectations.
Creag Chat is a sociable split-level cottage, with the main living spaces situated on the first floor. You will find yourselves gathering daily in the bright open-plan kitchen/diner, chatting round the kitchen table or sitting in the stylish living room on comfy seating in front of the cosy gas wood burner, enjoying the views towards Glencruitten. At the rear of the property, leading off the kitchen, is a fully enclosed patio area, providing a dining area with a gas BBQ and bench seating as well as a separate seating area where guests can relax on rattan style furniture. Ideal for a family, there are three good-sized bedrooms, two on the first floor, a bedroom with kingsize bed which can separate into twin beds plus a bunk bedroom. Downstairs, there is a master bedroom with kingsize bed and the family bathroom. Parking for at least two cars is available in the driveway.
Creag Chat is situated on Glencruitten Road, just a short walk to shops, café and bars. Continue along this road in the opposite direction, and you will come to the town golf course, a fine, testing hilly course and a riding stables. Further along the road, you will reach Glencruitten Estate, where there are some lovely walks with views over the town and countryside. The road leads onto a rural lane network forming part of the National Cycle Route 78 which stretches all the way from Oban to Fort William but which also leads to the stunning Glen Lonan to the East, Kilmore and Loch Nell to the South and Connel to the north.
A bustling west coast harbour town, Oban has lots going on for the visitor at any time of the year. Central for touring Argyll and known as the ‘Gateway to the Isles’, there are ferries leaving daily to many islands, such as Mull, Iona, Staffa, Lismore. In keeping with its reputation as the Seafood Capital of Scotland, there are plentiful excellent restaurants, cafés and pubs nearby, ideal for relaxing in after a pleasant day out exploring the wonderful scenery and visiting some of the interesting attractions which Argyll has to offer. There is a lovely sandy beach at Ganavan, just a mile’s drive along the coastal road. Dunollie, Dunstaffnage and Kilchurn Castles are some of the nearby castles to visit as part of a day’s sightseeing. Further afield but within an hour’s drive, visitors can enjoy the scenery of Glencoe, take a trip to Fort William to see Ben Nevis or catch the ‘Harry Potter’ train to Mallaig, or visit Inveraray Jail and Castle.
