Figueira is a lovely quiet, old village with a pizzeria very close by, Portuguese restaurants, and a local shop. 20 minutes walk to Figueira, a secluded sandy beach or 5 minutes drive to Salema a fishing village with a sandy beach and restaurants. Close to the Santo Antonio Golf and Leisure Resort. A short drive West is historic Sagres with the spectacular headland of Cape St Vincent, the most south-westerly point of Europe. Surrounded by beautiful walks and sandy beaches. For a vibrant night life visit the close by historic port of Lagos, today a cosmopolitan town with various pavement restaurants, cafes and bars.

My name is Nicola. With my family, we have lived and enjoyed visiting Portugal for the last 25 years. We have this villa, which we totally renovated, 22 years ago and a country house near Coimbra. We enjoy welcoming guests to the Algarve, into our house, and the beautiful country of Portugal with the friendly people, interesting history and many leisure activities from golf, tennis, pickle ball, surfing, stand up paddle board to relaxing on the beaches. The food is outstanding especially the fresh fish caught from the sea locally. The wine is also firstclass, we recommend the vinho verde or Douro wines for a taste of the authentic Portugal.
Why they chose this property
Figueira is a beautiful, unspoiled village in the stunning Western Algarve. Surrounded by countryside and within a 20-minute walk to Figueira beach with its sandy shore and clean sea. A 30-minute walk or 5-minute drive is the village and beach of Salema with stunning views, a handful of very good restaurants, small shops, and a sandy beach. Further afield and within 20 minutes of driving are numerous other beaches including Ingrina and Zaviel, famous for surfing and sandy beaches. The western coast is close by with rocky beaches and larger waves, ideal for surfing including Praia do Armado and Bordeira.
What makes this property unique
We renovated this traditional village house, which was originally two houses, over 25 years ago. With my children and husband, we lived in Figueira permanently, enjoying the local Portuguese schools and ways of life until returning to the UK 15 years ago. We are lucky to enjoy staying in the house a few times a year and are happy to welcome visitors who can also enjoy the large open-plan living, with a private swimming pool and outside eating area. We have recently added to the house a large Braia, South African BBQ, to enjoy outside dinning.
