With convenient access from the port and airport, and its close proximity to Heraklion, the capital of the prefecture, this Villa serves as an ideal hub for exploring the multifaceted island of Crete. Its central location along Crete’s northern axis enhances its appeal.

The Villa features a private entrance leading to its half-acre walled plot. Its two-level layout ensures discreet privacy, with the upper level accommodating a family of four across two bedrooms. Additionally, three separate studios with ensuite facilities provide comfortable accommodations for friends or independent travelers.

A highlight of the property is the expansive swimming pool (65m2), surrounded by fragrant flowers and citrus trees, offering a refreshing retreat on hot summer days.

The upper floor boasts a spacious and well-equipped kitchen where family breakfasts and dinners can be prepared. These can be enjoyed on the veranda, which offers uninterrupted views of the Cretan mountains. Skalani’s traditional market, comprising a grocer, baker, and butcher, provides access to ingredients essential for crafting authentic Cretan cuisine at affordable prices. Moreover, the tree-shaded central square boasts a selection of gourmet taverns for dining options.

Pleasant surprise, much better than expected

Our host Aristeides and his wife were terrific. Very helpful and provided good suggestions. The villa was truly spectacular, better than expected. Very clean and good location. A five minute walk is a small market and also a very friendly restaurant. The Greek food was delicious. We went back on our final night to have some wine, beer and stuffed grape leaves.

Modern, well-equipped villa in Crete

Aris and Marina made us very welcome in their home. The villa is obviously lived in as a family home and we were encouraged to use it as such. We visited in the first week of July and it was quite windy which helped with the very warm weather during the day although the nights were quite uncomfortable - we ended up buying a cheap fan for the main bedroom as it was the only one without one. The views from the house are beautiful and the pool was a welcome addition. Aris came over a few times to clean it and check we were happy and he was always on the end of a whatsapp to help with any queries. Skalani is a small village close to Heraklion and definitely not a tourist area which was great for us. The local taverna, a short walk from the villa, served amazing barbecues at an equally amazing price! We hired a large people carrier but, in retrospect, it might have been wiser to get two smaller cars as the roads are very narrow, steep and windy. That being said, it was quite easy to find our way around - once we had worked out how to leave the village - ignore the one way cut through! Knossos and Heraklion are a few minutes drive and there are numerous vineyards in the area. The aquarium is also worth a visit and the boys went to the waterpark which was pricey but they enjoyed it. Overall a relaxing holiday. Thank you.
