Villa Meris, Alghero, Italy

This stunning villa is in a quiet village, just 10 minutes from the centre of Alghero. With a large garden and private swimming pool, it is the perfect holiday spot for families or friends who want some peace but do not want to be too far from the action.

The two-storey villa sleeps 8 people in comfort and the owners have taken as much care with the outside spaces as they have with the interiors. The décor is very stylish and the combination of indoor and outdoor living makes it irresistible. The open-plan ground floor consists of an airy seating area with 2 sofas and a flat-screen TV, plus a dining table and a spacious kitchen. The fitted kitchen is well-equipped with a large cooker hob, oven, microwave, dishwasher, coffee machine, food processor and an American fridge/freezer. There is also a breakfast bar for quick snacks.

Large glass doors lead out onto a shaded veranda where guests can dine al fresco, at two dining tables. There is an outdoor kitchen complete with a BBQ, gas burners and a stone sink. A paved path leads to the swimming pool and jacuzzi. The sun loungers by the pool allow guests to relax after a refreshing swim. Beyond the pool is another shaded seating area, which is ideal for sundowners.

Sleeping
The villa has four bedrooms in total. Each one is beautifully furnished with wooden pieces. Three of the rooms have double beds and each bedroom has a TV and a wardrobe. The fourth bedroom has a bunk bed and a wardrobe. The fourth bedroom and the master bedroom both have French windows out onto a covered balcony. There is a table and chairs here where guests can relax with a book or a cup of coffee.

Bathroom
There are 2 independent bathrooms in the villa. Each has a shower, basin, bidet and WC.
Next to the veranda, is a separate WC with a washbasin.
There is also a 3rd shower outside.

Location
Set in tranquil countryside, with lovely views, this villa is an ideal base from which to explore north-western Sardinia. Sardinia’s western coast is less developed than the better-known Costa Smeralda and there are some beautiful beaches just 15 minutes from the house, including the unspoiled Spiaggia di Maria Pia (15 minutes) or La Baia dei Venti just next door.

Alghero (10 minutes) is a fascinating collection of architecture, from the ancient walls that encircle the city, to the gothic cathedral. A day wandering through its cobbled streets is a rewarding experience, especially if it involves lunch at one of the many, delicious, local restaurants. For the best and freshest local produce, a trip to the central market is very worthwhile.

The nature reserve at Porto Conte (30 minutes) offers hiking routes for all ages and abilities, through unspoiled coastal landscapes, as well as stunning snorkelling.

Alghero airport is just 20 minutes away.
