Grand Harbour, Valletta, Malta - sleeps six

The perfect base for your self-catering holiday in Malta, our apartment is situated on Dahlet Gnien Is-Sultan ('the Site of the Sultan's Garden') just outside the city walls of old Valletta, a World Heritage City, and within easy reach of all facilities and transport links. On the quayside just below us is the new fast ferry terminal to Gozo (takes 45 mins, every 2 hours - foot passengers only) and ferries across to the Three Cities.

The apartment has a balcony and large roof terrace, sleeps up to 6 people and is newly refurbished throughout with modern, stylish furniture and new appliances. Click on the photos section to see the interior, views and surrounding area (but our full 180-degree view was too big to upload!)

The apartment sleeps up to a maximum of 6 people and has one double bedroom, one twin bedroom and two double sofa beds in the living room. Modern and stylish bath/shower room, and a second guest toilet.

The accommodation is spacious - 142 sq metres or 1,525 sq ft - light and airy throughout with traditional Maltese features such as the rustic wooden shutters on the windows and balcony doors. There is a separate TV lounge with 120-channel XLHD cable TV. There is free internet access with unlimited data usage. Ample bed linen and towels are provided but please bring your own beach towels.

Large kitchen/breakfast room with lots of character (1960s retro-style) and a dining table seating six, fully equipped including coffee maker, kettle, toaster, washing machine, ironing facilities. We can provide a Welcome food pack containing tea, coffee and sandwich-making provisions for your arrival, if you wish.

The apartment balcony is small but has a patio-size glazed ceramic and wrought iron table and two chairs - perfect for your morning cup of coffee. The roof terrace, however, is very big with an olive tree, oleander and bougainvillea plants, a large garden table and six chairs where you can take your meals al-fresco, and two sun-loungers with a parasol.

Airport pick-up service by our own drivers. Flexible check-in times. Very friendly and helpful caretaker, maid cleaning prior to arrival and on departure.

We have just spent 3 nights here and wow - what a property! Our host arranged the taxi transfers for us and Sandra, the caretaker was waiting for us when we arrived and showed us around the apartment. We arranged with Sandra for some food for our arrival - milk, bread, cheese, tea/coffee etc. Property was very spacious, clean, good air-con, on a quiet road right near Victoria Gate. Only a few minutes walk to centre of Valleta. Lovely terrace to enjoy a drink on, and also access to a large roof terrace. The views are amazing and we would 100% recommend a stay in this apartment.

The view from the balcony over looking the harbour is just stunning. 5 minute walk to the bars and restaurants and right in the middle for all the attractions. Very spacious and clean. Plus lovely people to deal with.

Lovely flat looking out over Valetta Harbour

This flat was perfect for us with beautiful views over Valetta harbour. The views from the shared roof terrace were prenominal. The flat itself is everything it say it is online. We used the recommended taxi and the driver let us in the flat, which meant our arrival was easy and uncomplicated. We also opted for the welcome pack for 25 euros and it was a very good buy. Easy to get into central Valetta - either upstairs or using the lift ( 1 euros there and back) it was ideally placed for a lovely holiday.

Great access to the ferries.

Right near the 3 cities, Gozo and Blue Lagoon ferries. Watch the mammoth cruise ships glide right out your kitchen window. The air conditioning is a life saver.

We were keen to spend time in Valletta and this location ticked all the boxes for us. Spacious. Clean. Close proximity to the harbour and city. Steps away from the lift to/from Upper Barrakka Gardens making the heart of Valetta easily accessible.

Good location and comfortable for a family

The apartment is really nice and comfortable with a beautiful view. There is not a keyless check in which was an inconvenience. We had someone pick us up at the airport to deliver the keys but the cost of that was more than finding our own transportation to the property. Having someone meet us with the keys was not an option by the host for a 8 pm check in. Other than that issue everything was great and Malta is amazing.

Perfect Holiday

We loved our stay at the Grand Harbour, accommodation was in a perfect spot, walking distance to busses, ferries & into to beautiful streets with all the shops, cafés & restaurants. The home had everything we needed & the housekeeper Sandra was fantastic, provided us with a few supplies for our arrival & organising our airport shuttle. Perfect location to experience the City

We really enjoyed our stay. The apartment is lovely and spacious. Beautiful furniture, comfortable beds, great views and nice outdoor spaces (the rooftop terrace is two flights up in the apartment building). We were delighted that our host arranged transportation for us, could have some essentials on hand when we arrived, and that we were met in person to get introduced to the apartment. Communication was excellent before and during our stay. The location is just a block from the ferries, and a couple blocks to be right in the heart of the City. It was great to be able to walk everywhere and close to the bus for our exploring other areas.

Great water views!

This gem of an apartment has great views of the harbor and near by church bell tower. The apartment has plenty of room with 2 different seating areas and 1 1/2 baths. Unless you want to walk up many flights of stairs, the way to get up into the the city center is to use then Barrakka Lift. The churches and Cathedral are very impressive. Be sure to get out of the city to see the Rabat, Mdina area.

Nice stay

Good location, especially if you are taking the fast ferry to Gozo. The water taxis also launch from just around the corner. Very large apartment with lots of space. The kitchen had everything we needed. The grocery is nearby and made it easy to eat several meals at home. Great communication with the person responsible for the apartment. Overall highly recommended!

The apartment is very spacious, clean and tidy. The kitchen is well equipped if you fancy cooking a meal. The views of the Grand Harbour are breath taking from the balcony. The apartment is in a great location being handy to Valletta centre and the waterfront but located in a nice quiet area. Sandra was very friendly, attentive and helpful. Incredible location

The four of us relished the central position of the apartment. Views from the balcony were exceptional for the Fireworks on Saturday night. The apartment itself was comfortable and well appointed We came by car and found it quite difficult to locate, my texts did not get thru to the manager and it was a challenge to find her when I did make contact. These hassles would be eliminated by accepting the offer of their taxi & the manager getting food in would be a good idea

Great location, good vskue

This apartment served all our needs. (Three adult women.) Great location just on the edge of busy town, walkable to everything. Not fancy, but roomy, well appointed, quiet, great view. Owner very responsive and manager helped when we had questions. I think we walked every inch of Valletta, and rented a car to see the interesting/historic parts of the island and Gozo. (Driving is challenging unless you are experienced.) Very fun, interesting place to visit.

Loved the apartment. It was very easy to get to Valletta with the lift. Sandra was very helpful with information. Speed boat to Gozo was very close and spot to get the hop on and hop off bus was close. We found using the public bus to get around was very time consuming but using Bolt (Uber) was simple and not to expensive so we did both. My only complaint would be that there was no water pressure so it was very hard to was hair. It was only 13 Euro to get to the airport with Bolt.

Beautiful view

Spacious and well located property with beautiful views over the Three Cities. We encountered some issues with the plumbing, but it was fixed quickly. We were unfortunate to coincide with very noisy building works opposite, starting at 7am each day (including weekends), but once this is completed I can imagine it would be a perfect place to stay whilst in Malta. If we return to Malta we would definitely stay there again. The property manager Sandra had welcomed us with some food and drink essentials, which was lovely.

Overall our stay was good

Getting hold of the owners was simple and response was good We were shown around by Sandra (always nice to meet the owner) who did show us how to work washing machine and air con etc and organised a shop so we had enough for breakfast and sandwiches Was a little disappointed that the top balcony wasn’t attached to a room as we thought from the pictures and had to go up the hallway to top floor. We had a little difficulty getting hold of Wi-Fi password as the welcome pack wasn’t to hand for a few days. Just a suggestion that there were written/typed instructions (within the welcome pack) on what to do with waste/recycling etc as the bin lid wasn’t in English and maybe about other appliances with the apartment Also maybe some suggestions of local restaurants in the area and places to visit though there were quite a few leaflets to hand. The above are just thoughts to help future visitors. We did have a great stay in this spacious home and the location was perfect with interesting views of the comings and going’s in the harbour. Go on try it for yourself 😃

Spacious Apartment With A Great View

Almost set into the side of the cliffs below Upper Barrakka Gardens, this apartment has a lovely view from the balcony across the Grand Harbour to the Three Cities. Keep an eye out for one of the huge cruise ships coming in to berth. To the other side is a cliff face where some repair work was going on during our stay (late March 2023). Yes, it did start early in the morning, but it really wasn’t that noisy, and I suspect it won’t take much longer to complete. To get to central Valletta you have two choices. One is to take a five minute walk down to the Upper Barrakka Gardens lift. It costs one euro for a return journey. It’s made of glass so I would recommend doing it at least once for fun and views. The Gardens themselves are one of the few places with a better view to the Three Cities than the apartment. The other choice for getting into the centre is to walk up 100+ steps spread over several flights. The steps are very shallow and I had no real problem despite being over 60 and overweight. A very handy aspect to the location is that you're only a few minutes’ walk from both the ferry to the Three Cities and the fast ferry to Gozo. We used both and would highly recommend them. The living space here is excellent (bearing in mind there was just the two of us). The kitchen is spacious, complete with a large table and plenty of worktop. The furnishings are a little tired, but there is ample crockery, cutlery, glassware, etc. The main bathroom suffers from very low water pressure for the shower, but it’s roomy and everything works. The main bedroom is again roomy, has plenty of storage and possibly the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in when renting. Great night’s sleep every time. The TV lounge has two large settees, but it must be said they desperately need repairing. They look fine but turn into buckets when you sit on (in!) them. The TV has very few channels in English other than news, but we take Google TV with us anyway. Other than the cliff repairs, the apartment is in a quiet location in a well-maintained building. The few other residents we met seemed very friendly. Speaking of friendly, thank you Sandra for the starter groceries and for your help in getting us settled in. We also greatly appreciated the airport transfer service for 25 euros each way. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would have no issue staying here again should we return to Valletta.

Fabulous! A really great spot to enjoy Valetta.Very clean, we were incredibly well looked after. Sandra organised local taxis who gave us phenomenal information on our way from the airport, and a food pack for our arrival, which meant we weren't scrambling for food when we arrived quite late on the first day!Comfy beds and sofas, brilliant view of and access to the harbour.Easy to navigate the city and find your way back - just head for "Victoria Gate".Quickest way into Valetta involced lots of steps ( several less step intensive walks - definitely check out the lifts at upper barakka (sp?) but we enjoyed the life of the steps!If I had to find any fault with the place it would only be that the shower wasn't very powerful, but it more than did the job so it's really not an issue. I would definitely visit again and would highly recommended. ** Added bonus that the end of the day almost always involved downhill because of where it is, definitely an advantage **

A delightfully large apartment with view over the harbour and small sunny balcony The brilliant Baraka lift very closeby for access to centre of Valletta or steps (but quite a few!). Ferries to Gozo and the Three Cities close by too.Taxi from (and back to) airport arranged by host Sandra worked a treat. No hesitation in fully recommending the flat.
