Visit the very popular Rievaulx Abbey or nearby towns and cities, including the fabulous Helmsley, Thirsk and Richmond. A little further afield are York, Harrogate and Leeds, which can be accessed by the train station in Northallerton or around a one-hour drive. Alternatively, if you wanted to leave the car and have a day exploring there are plenty of picturesque walks right on Elm Cottages’ doorstep along with village pubs within walking distance offering a variety of local ales and good old pub grub.
