This was such a lovely property. Beautiful grounds and very clean. We enjoyed our weekend stay while we participated in the Mammoth March at Harriman State Park. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to visit the area
A beautiful home on a peaceful property. It had everything we needed and provided a comfy home away from home while visiting our cadet at West Point. Grateful for the kindness of the property owner. Would absolutely stay again.
We had a wonderful stay here. Loved sitting outside with our morning coffee watching the turtles and sitting at night watching the firefly night show! Very clean and comfortable home and a beautiful property.
The property was beautiful. Even though it rained we were so happy to look out the large windows and see the wildlife! The house was clean and everything we needed was there (including menus for ordering in food).
Beautiful stay - we were able to be with family and enjoy the place - home cooked meals, smores on the patio, watching beavers, deer and black bears (!!) from the breakfast table. Just what the dr ordered!
My family and I had a wonderful stay. The house is comfy, cozy and clean. Lots to do nearby. We were able to celebrate Christmas as a family. Would definitely stay again.
We enjoyed waking up to the deer and "Billy" the Heron in the mornings who had come to visit the pond daily. The house was clean and tidy and had everything we needed for our family to enjoy some time together while being close enough to visit West Point.
This property was a perfect setting for evening "down time" after busy days of family activities. We appreciateed the the secluded feel yet convenient location. The common spaces were great for interaction and conversation, while the sleeping rooms allowed for privacy. It was a lovely place to stay.
John provided us a clean, well kept home. We appreciated him, the view of the lake, and the comfort of the home. Thanks John, we wouldn’t mind staying there again. We had a great time in the Suffern home, it was close to places where we wanted to be and it felt cozy and safe there..
We stayed at this property while visiting West Point. It was very clean, cozy, and nicely decorated. We had basically everything we needed. The kitchen is fully upgraded and the living room was very comfortable. One note I would point out would be that the stairs might be an issue for older guests or those with mobility issues but there is a downstairs bedroom and full bath.
It was home away from home on our stay. We were a group of 4 adults and there was plenty of space. the beds were comfortable and 2 bathrooms was a blessing. Even tho it rained our whole trip the pond and wildlife was amazing as was the view. John the host was a text message away if anything happened and answered all of our questions.
We brought our son up from Oklahoma to West Point for SLE. We stayed for 8 days. This property wasn’t far from there and was perfect for what we needed. We our farmers in Oklahoma and live in the middle of nowhere so we value our privacy. Other than being able to hear the traffic, we could not see them which was just fine with us. There were plenty of cooking utensils, cookware, and dishes for the week. The only hiccup I would give this property is that it was hard to see to pull out when turning left out of the property due to the bush. We learned how to work around it which is why that was only a hiccup and not an issue. The pitch and view was the absolute best part of the property. My 84 year old dad was sitting outside every morning watching the wildlife and hoping to see a bear! If my son gets accepted next year into West Point, we will definitely be back!!
The views from the sunroom and back patio were beautiful. Nice patio with plenty of chairs to sit and enjoy the outdoors. House was very clean and furnished with very comfortable furniture. All the basic necessities were there. We loved the sunroom also. Kitchen was spotless and we enjoyed making our meals there. There were 5 of us gathered and we hiked during the day and played board games at night. The owner was easy to reach . Not a fancy place if you’re looking for that but kind of like visiting your Grandmas house- very welcoming. Would definitely recommend!
We were in town for a family wedding, and my boys stayed 2 nights with us. Overall the property is lovely, the space generous and the ameneties exceeded my expectations. The reason for not giving a '5 star' all around is this: 1. lots of traffic noise; I didn't realize how close the house is to Route 202 and 2. Once my boys arrived and we attempted to use the upstairs and downstairs showers concurrently, we (quickly) found out this was not possible; the upstairs shower turned off once the downstairs one was turned on. A bit of an issue for us.
This property is a convenient 20-25 minute drive to West Point. This is a beautiful property surrounded by woods with a pond out back. There is plenty of wildlife such as deer, geese, and blue heron, etc. The views are fantastic. The kitchen is well supplied with coffee maker and all necessary cooking and eating utensils. It is stocked with soap, dish towels, and paper towels for easy cleanup. The bedrooms are spacious and supplied with extra blankets. The décor is vintage/antique. There are blow dryers in the bathroom and plenty of kleenex and soaps. The WiFi signal is strong. Overall, this is a quaint and inviting place to stay which we highly recommend.
I really enjoyed my stay, especially the abundant wildlife on the property (blue herons, herds of deer, pond life, etc). I had everything I needed (I stayed alone, and was able to stay the full week on the main level). The view from the kitchen is pure peace and tranquility. I would caution parents to consider 2 things: 1. the property lies on a busy, fast-moving country road, though the house is set back quite far from it, so be prepared to keep kids in the backyard and supervised (I would also note that you cannot hear the traffic from this road with the air conditioners on in summer); 2. The twin beds are down stairs, while 2 possible traditional master bedrooms are upstairs. If you have a large family and will have young children at the house, you may wish to consider how to arrange sleeping arrangements as the children would be asleep on a separate level from the parents if you give them the twin beds. The living room feels like it would be the absolute coziest spot on the planet in winter, especially perfect for thanksgiving or Christmas holidays. The house has the cozy feeling of going to visit your grandmother with a nice, modern, and very functional kitchen with comfort and beauty throughout. I really appreciated renting this gem!
I’ll be honest…I didn’t have great expectations before arriving. We arrived after dark, the house felt a little stuffy. Woke up the next morning to the most beautiful view! Breeze blew away the “stuffiness”, deer showed up…turtles….blue heron. It was a real beautiful scene. Quiet. Everything we might possibly need was provided. The property is outstanding and the host is a very attentive person. He went above and beyond to accommodate an extra night for us. Highly recommend!
Awesome house!!!Very clean and an excellent setting.

Hello, I am the forth generation of my family to live in this area. I am an avid hiker, naturalist, wildlife enthusiast, and truly enjoy all the things outdoors.
Why they chose this property
This property is part of my family's original farm purchased in the late 1800's. My parents built the house their selves in the 1950s (hence the name Cynthia's place). It is an absolute gem of a location and I want to share it with others who also appreciate nature and wildlife.
What makes this property unique
The secluded location has fantastic views of the mountain and pond in the back yard on the 25 acre estate. Everyday provides for something new to see: the blue heron fishing at the pond, hawks circling over head, turkeys traveling through the back yard, deer at dusk or dawn, or just the clouds floating over the mountain.
