Perfect location to explore the area. The property had everything we could need and more, like a home away from home.Great outdoor space, secure garden for dogs and a lovely decked seating/dining area.

Thanks for being such fabulous guests and taking such great care of our property. Your optimism - as a group - in the face of such miserable weather was so lovely! Please come again any time!
Superb spacious house, nice garden and decking. A beautiful red kite decided to give us a soaring display one evening :) The cottage is very close to the main A75 so it can be noisy while you're out in the garden. On the plus side, the location gives good travel access to all areas of D&G by bus and by car. Don't miss Threave Gardens - free motorised scooter available for people with mobility problems that would restrict their access to the gardens.

Hosted by Anstey Spraggan
We are Anstey (a writer) and Colin (a violinmaker). Anstey is also a qualified Biosphere Guide and can help organise trips out with various local practitioners who can help you forage, build shelters and fires, and understand the night sky. This UNESCO Biosphere area is rich in wildlife and biodiversity as well as being a Dark Sky Park. We have the most beautiful beaches in Britain and very few tourists. A perfect combination.
Why they chose this property
We have never lived anywhere more beautiful. Most people miss this area on their journey through to the Highlands, but it is well worth visiting for the peace and beauty and for the fact that we don't have midges. We have stunning lochs against backdrop of immense hills and mountains, plus incredible and accessible wildlife. Everything they have up in the north - except the vast numbers of tourists, and those midges!
What makes this property unique
Our cottage is cosy and chic at the same time. We hope we have thought of everything to make your stay comfortable, easy, and memorable. Our rooms are stylish and our linens all hotel quality. At the same time, the space is designed to be enjoyed, with a well-stocked bookcase and games collection, and a fenced garden with decking, garden furniture, and a unique drystone barbecue. Should you have to work from home a little during your holiday, each room has a desk and chair and our wifi is excellent. The property - a converted 17th century barn - really does stand out.
