About this property
Red Rock Villa is a luxury tranquil retreat on Virgin Gorda. Masterful design!
Red Rock Villa
Masterfully designed, and robustly constructed, this offering
exists in harmony with the unique landscape of Virgin Gorda.
Red Rock Villa is nestled into the red boulders of
Coppermine Ridge and is a magnificent homage to nature.
It is built unobtrusively into one of the highest points of The
Valley and enjoys views of both the Atlantic Ocean to its east
and the Caribbean Sea to its west. This allows for enjoyment
of both sunrise and sunset over neighbouring islands.
Red Rock Villa is graced by trade winds and enjoys the
tranquility of its secluded setting. On entering the electronic
gate, one is surrounded by a lush, professionally designed
garden that balances exotic local plants with imported trees.
A focal point is the charming wooden Balinese sculpture
under an ancient Indian rubber tree. The gardens have many
Zen spots that call you to linger and relax.
The Villa
Completed in 2012, Red Rocks was designed by
German architect Hubert Horbach and underwent
construction for several years as most of the high
quality building materials were imported from
Europe. The villa is designed around a charming
open-air courtyard with an exotic koi fishpond
and out-door dining area.
The courtyard is surrounded on four sides by the
Great Room, the bedrooms, the spa, and
swimming pool deck. With a total of
approximately 4000 sq ft interior space and 3000
sq ft of covered and uncovered decks and porches
each pavilion that surrounds the courtyard, is
superbly finished and topped by dramatic peaked
roofs. There is an additional 2,000 square feet of
exterior space which encompasses the courtyard,
pool deck and Zen garden.
As part of the open floor plan Great Room,
there is easy flow from the kitchen to the
dining room, and living room, and out to the
central courtyard. The kitchen is large enough
for multiple cooks and modern appliances
make cooking a pleasure. Kitchen cabinetry,
topped with mahogany, are made of concrete,
and clad with limestone tiles.
Kitchen
Viking appliances include two standing wine
coolers and one under the counter cooler.
One big freezer/fridge, two dishwashers, six
burner stove and two ovens complement the
kitchen. The dining room has a wooden slab
table with seating for eight while the elegantly
casual living room beckons one to linger with
good company.
Bedroom SuitesLocated on the upper level of the spa
pavilion, is the master suite which is
aptly named Two Oceans. Through
the expansive glass doors on two sides
of this bedroom, one enjoys the view
of both the Atlantic Ocean to the east
and the Caribbean Sea to the west.
The other two bedrooms, also named
for the spectacular views they enjoy
are Taddy Bay and Coppermine Bay.
In all bedrooms, the king-sized beds
are placed so one awakens to the
amazing ocean views. Walk-in
timbered closets, German-made
Dornbracht faucets, and carved stone
basins from Bali make daily acts,
elegant and luxurious.
PoolOn the north-eastern corner of the courtyard,
a sunny pool overflows and blends in with the
blue ocean in the distance. Tiles by German
manufacturer Garbo Buchtal are used
throughout the pool’s interior while under
water lights give an ethereal glow at night.
With a depth of 2 meters, the pool’s chlorine
free, sand filtering system, is kinder to the
skin. Teak is used for the covered pool deck
that provides space for lounging, or yoga.
Spa and Zen GardenA spacious spa borders the courtyard, opens on to the KOI
pond on one side, and to a ZEN garden on the other. The spa is
equipped with ensuite-bathroom and is designed for single or
multiple massages and outfitted with equipment, temperature
control, linens and fragrances to promote relaxation.
It benefits from the soothing sound of flowing water from the
KOI pond, and from the wind in the leaves of the ZEN garden
which also features a large spa pool. It could easily be changed
into a fourth bedroom.
Location
Spring Bay, Savannah Bay and Valley Trunk are some of the most
beautiful beaches of the BVI and are located within 5 minutes’ drive
from Red Rock Villa. Also, within easy reach are two national parks,
The Baths and the Coppermine Ruins. The villa is conveniently
located near to shopping, banking and transportation routes, a five
minute drive from Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbour, the airstrip, the
ferry terminal, and the commercial centre of Spanish Town.
Twenty minutes’ drive brings one to the North Sound Channel with
such prestigious island developments and resorts like, Necker Island,
Saba Rock, Bitter End Yacht Club and Oil Nut Bay.
A short drive through Princess Quarters, a low-density residential
estate, and past other affluent homes, the estate road terminates at
Red Rock Villa.
Construction
Red Rock was designed and built using German
standards of disaster readiness that would meet or
surpass hurricane codes of South Florida. Walls are
concrete cladding over 2.5-inch interior interlocking
block plates from Greek manufacturer, YTONG.
This fireproof material provides strength and
insulation ideal for the warm tropical climates.
The peaked roofs of Red Rock Villa are slate grey
Canadian shingles with copper guttering imported
from Germany. Interior ceilings are “cathedral” high
with pressure treated timber, and superior grade
plywood imported from Canada. German-made steel
beams and cables add stylistic effect while ensuring
structural integrity to the roof.Masterfully designed, and robustly constructed, this offering
