Great communication from Bolthole Retreats and Iris Lodge was perfect for our mini break. The lake and surroundings are lovely and the lodge itself very comfortable with everything we needed- including a fab power shower!

Lovely short stay
Had a lovely time with my family on a 2 night stay. Lodge had everything we needed and very cosy. Great location and lots of things/walks to do in local area especially during the summer. Nearby restaurants really nice. Would recommend and hope to return.

Lovely place to stay
Iris lodge was a joy to stay in.
Fabulous location. Well stocked kitchen, whole place was very clean inside and out.
Comfortable beds.
We were lucky with the weather and able to make use of seating area outside overlooking the lake, extremely peaceful.
Beautiful surrounding villages and great eating places particularly The Royal Oak in South Cerney where we went for evening meal.
If you’re looking for somewhere for breakfast after checking out use Pennycress Garden Cafe in South Cerney where you can enjoy a wonderful atmosphere and amazing food.
Coffee great too.
Loved the area and would definitely recommend Iris lodge as a base.

Lovely stay but feel little touches could improve
Although we really enjoyed our stay at Iris Lodge, the place felt quite tired and could do with a refresh. In terms of cleanliness, the surfaces all felt very clean but the floors and bathroom could do with a deeper clean. The WiFi wasn't working, as we were only staying for 2 nights, it wasn't a major issue but did cause a small impact on our experience. One last thing: although the log burner was one of the main reasons for booking the lodge, we had to purchase our own firestarters and kindling, as none were provided.
We genuinely really enjoy our stay but these are just a few things that would have made us eager to return.

Quiet
A relaxing area to stay in, very peaceful. The lodge itself was comfortable, although the double bed seemed to be a bit on the small side! The lodge would have benefited from a larger TV. The kitchen was well equipped only lacking a small frying pan and slightly bigger drinking glasses. The fridge door is very creaky.

Very peaceful
The location of these Lodges is excellent. Very tranquil and peaceful, the lake is lovely with swans and cygnets floating about. There were a great number of Canada geese and their goslings wandering about, but they don't interfere with the guests.
The Lodge itself, Number 12, could do with a bit of an update, especially the appliances, fridge in particular which was leaky and old. The outside of the Lodge could do with a coat of varnish and really could do with a path in front of the porch and round the side, like most of the other Lodges have as the geese make a bit of a mess and you have to avoid taking it into the Lodge on your shoes!
The furnishings inside are comfortable, the bathroom is great with a lovely big shower and the beds are comfortable.
All in all we had a lovely stay and would definitely consider going back. We didn't go for the fishing, just a nice rest and we certainly got that.
