Located in the heart of the ancient medina of Fes, DAR 47 is a stylish retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city. Whilst retaining its traditional features, the house has been tastefully furnished and fitted with modern luxuries to ensure a relaxing and comfortable stay. Guests have exclusive use of the house.

We have a fabulous team on hand, including our gem of a housekeeper, Khadija (who lives at the house) who prepares a daily breakfast (included in our rates) and dinners on request. I am available to help plan your time in Fes from organising airport/train station transfers, a medina guide and day trips as well as recommendations for spas, cookery schools and restaurants.

The space:
Relax on sun loungers on the front terrace and enjoy magnificent views of the medina. The side terrace, adjoining the rooftop kitchen, is the perfect place for al fresco dining. Both terraces are private and not overlooked with magnificent views of the medina.

There is a spacious salon at ground floor level with comfortable seating, dining table (seating 8 guests) and fireplace for those cooler evenings.

The two bedroom suites on the first floor have air-conditioning - heat/cool. Fans and electric heaters are provided for the other bedrooms.

Linen and bath towels are provided.

Wifi - free - 8 mega speed.

Location:
DAR 47 is less than a 5 minute walk from the Bab Guissa gate (one of the entrances into the pedestrianised medina where there is also secure parking) making it very easy to get in and out of the medina. We are about a 5-10 minute stroll from the Chaouwara tanneries, the Nejjarine Museum, the Al-Attarine Madrasa and the Kairaouine Mosque. There are many excellent restaurants within a 10-15 minute walk from the house on the Talaa Kebira street.

Guests will be met on arrival at the Bab Guissa gate to be shown to the house.

Guest access:
Guests will have exclusive use of the whole house (except for the main kitchen which is used by our housekeeper). There is a smaller guest kitchen at terrace (rooftop) level for guests.

Other things to note:
Our live-in housekeeper, Khadija, will provide a daily complimentary breakfast - she is a wonderful cook and can provide lunch and/or dinner on request (additional cost payable).

As with most traditional Moroccan riads/dars there are numerous steps within the house and is therefore not suitable for people with mobility issues. Small children must be closely monitored.

Please note in peak summer (July & August) we only accept small group bookings (up to 4 guests) using the 2 bedrooms with air-con.

While smoking is not permitted in the house, it is possible on the terrace.

Usual check-in times are 15h-22h - we can accommodate late check-ins after 22h but this will incur a late arrival fee of 200dhs per group (payable at the house) to cover the late meet and greet. We can be flexible on early check ins and late check outs providing we don’t have other guests checking in/out on the same day.
