Outstanding - what an absolute delight this place is.
What an absolute delight this place is. The setting of the accommodation in the middle of the lakes and trees with all its wildlife is wonderful. Oscar and his father were lovely and very interesting people, who looked after us very well. Set amongst lakes and trees in an island of wildness amongst the agricultural landscape of the Cambridgeshire fens. There are paths to walk around and enjoy real tranquility. We were lucky to be there in spring with baby ducks, goslings and moorhens and many birds singing and deer and rabbits frolicking about, but the setting would be lovely any time of year.
Oscar met us and made us very welcome and he and his father were around whenever we needed to ask anything. Lovely people to chat to and hear the amazing history of the place. Very clean and well looked after.
The accommodation is a really well done conversion of the upper floor of a garage block. It is really nice and unusual and spacious. The bedrooms are a good size and the open plan living area very comfortable. The one thing I would recommend for the place would be to add a cooker with a hob to cook on. Whilst we mastered cooking meals with the air fryer and microwave, we would have preferred to e.g. boil our vegetables in a pan. Maybe we should just get with the times as we managed easily enough, but it is the one thing we didn't find perfect. One of our reasons for booking was the relatively low cost (along with it was just where we wanted to be), but we were amazed at the value of the place once we got there.
