'The Oyster Bed' is a luxury shepherd's hut nestled in a quiet back street just a short walk from Whitstable’s main high street. It’s a cozy & tranquil oasis; a perfect place to rest after a day on the beach or exploring the quirky shops or local eateries that Whitstable has to offer. Whether you're a solo adventurer or a couple seeking a romantic getaway, this contemporary yet rustic accommodation provides a unique and unforgettable experience.
Crafted with love and care, our fully insulated, double glazed, heated wagon boasts a comfortable raised king size bed, providing a restful night’s sleep and ample room to store luggage. It comes equipped with a log burner which creates a warm and relaxing environment during the winter months. There’s also a hand-crafted wooden kitchenette complete with mini-fridge, toaster, microwave, double electric hob and tea/coffee making facilities. Next to the kitchen is a fully-equipped bathroom with hot shower and toilet. Enjoy our sophisticated indoor dining area or eat alfresco in the private courtyard next to the hut.
Free parking for one car is available on the drive in front of the hut, as well as free on-street parking in the neighbouring streets.
Please note that the entrance to the shepherd's hut is located at the back of the property on Essex road, opposite number 71. There is a lock box on the wall where the key will be placed. The code and WiFi password will be sent to you before you arrive.

Within Whitstable, key highlights are the harbour and beach where you can try Whitstable’s famous oysters and a range of other seafood. Also, a short walk along the coast from the harbour, you can find the famous Tankerton slopes; great for an afternoon stroll. For people interested in history and culture, there are places like Whitstable castle and the Whitstable museum. For food lovers, there are a large number of wonderful restaurants and cafes all across the town. Further afield, Canterbury is just a short journey by bus or car where you can visit the Cathedral and historic centre, and there are other nice local towns like Herne bay, Faversham and Birchington that all have their own unique charm. The easiest way to get into Whitstable centre is by foot which is a 3-minute walk to the start of town. Both the harbour and beach are a 15-minute walk away. There is a bus stop just around the corner on Canterbury road that can take you down to the harbour and also links to Herne Bay and Canterbury. The train station is a 10-minute walk away with links to Thanet and London. The nearest shop is a Co-Op which is just a 2-minute walk.
