About this property
Peaceful cottage, idyllic location near Rosedale Abbey. Lovely walks, wild moors
Low Muffles Bridge is a wonderfully quiet, detached cottage surrounded by gardens, fields and woods - full of wildlife, walking routes and bike trails. Our bungalow is cosy, bright and well-equipped, with comfy beds, full kitchen (with dishwasher and microwave) and wide windows to see the views. Outside, as well as extensive gardens, there is a spacious patio, with table and seating for sunny days. The house is part of the scattered farming hamlet of Hartoft. A short drive will take you to the pretty villages of Rosedale Abbey, Cropton, Lastingham or Appleton-le-Moor, or to Pickering, the charming local market town. We're in the North Yorks Moors National Park, which is rich in heathland, valleys, forests and rivers for exploring on foot, in the car, or even by train - it has its own narrow-gauge railway. A little further afield you will find stately homes such as Nunnington Hall, walled gardens (Scampston) and ruined abbeys (Rievaulx and Byland). The craggy and beautiful north Yorkshire coast with its quaint fishing villages is less than an hour's drive away, for a day at the beach, a walk along the clifftops or a visit to historic Whitby. Country inns offer hearty pub meals; for lovers of fine dining, there are enticing options at Kirbymoorside, Malton and Harome.
