About the host
Your host

Hi, I’m Alyson! I grew up in South Africa and now live in Margate, by way of London. I’m a plant designer by trade... I teach terrarium workshops and create indoor plant installations and botanical art.
I love hosting and creating spaces that feel calm, welcoming, and a little bit special. When I travel, I’m always drawn to places that have character and comfort in equal measure, and I try to offer that to my guests too. Whether you're here to explore Margate or just unwind by the sea, I hope you feel right at home.

Why they chose this property
I fell in love with Margate’s mix of old-school seaside charm and creative energy. It has such a unique character... beautiful beaches, amazing light, vintage shops, and a brilliant food scene. There’s always something happening, but it also has a peaceful, laid-back feel that makes it easy to relax. I love being near the sea and having everything from independent cafés to art galleries just a short walk away.
What makes this property unique
The flat is calm, light-filled, and thoughtfully put together with a mix of vintage finds and design details that make it feel unique. It’s right in the heart of Margate, just across from Trinity Square and a short walk to the beach, Old Town, and all the best local spots. I’ve tried to create a space that feels welcoming, characterful, and easy to settle into... somewhere you can truly unwind and enjoy.
