About this property
On The Beach - The Upper Annex
Situated in the grounds of Carraig Cnoc House, this beautifully renovated apartment sleeps 4 (the beds can be configured as doubles or singles). From your bedroom, you can take in the stunning view of the sea (and dolphins) and Binevenagh Mountain.
Have breakfast on the patio and then walk straight onto one of the loveliest beaches in Ireland, or take Yoga lessons or a Sauna (small booking fee on request) and go for a swim after. The apartment can be booked with the Lower Annex (sleeps 4).
The space
The property was completely refurbished in July 2024 and boasts a setting that is quite unique in Donegal.
Set on the grounds of Carraig Cnoc House, which has seen artists, writers, musicians, comedians, and politicians stay over the years, the Upper Annex is private, peaceful, beautiful and magical.
There are two bedrooms on the first floor, and the hotel-style beds can be configured as twin or double (just let me know in advance). A brand new kitchen diner has a dishwasher, electric oven, TV, and wifi.
Outside is a private gravel patio/dining area, which is a suntrap on nice days, and from there, you walk directly along the gravel path and down to a lovely, secluded beach.
There is a brand new wood-fired Sauna available for 1-hour sessions on request for a small fee.
The property is unique in that you can see the sea from every room, and on most days, you can see the dolphins and the odd seal. Birds are abundant from our neighbourly heron, the whizzing house martins, gulls, oystercatchers, terns and cormorants.
Experience the magic of the place and walk up to the lighthouse and stunning beach at Inishowen Head, or maybe a round of golf at the local golf links. We have two of the best pizza restaurants, which also serve other great food, in Moville, six miles away, and some great pubs. There is a horse riding school in Town and during the summer a huge sea adventure where kids can jump off bouncy castle in the water in Moville.
There's something for everyone, and we know you will love your stay
Guest access
Parking is to the side of the main house.
The gravel patio is reserved for you and any guests who may be in the lower apartment.
Walk along the gravel path to the beach, which is secluded but open to the public.
Please do not walk in front of or around the main house as there are daily Yoga classes (which can also be booked if you fancy some serious relaxation.
There is strictly no access to the large rock overlooking the sea for health and safety reasons.
Other things to note:
The beach is right on your doorstep, accessed by a short path. It is a beautiful beach and great for swimming but there are no lifeguards so all children must be accompanied. Same with the garden area as the main gate is never closed.
We pride ourselves on getting 5 star reviews, and most everyone has said it was the most relaxing and fun stay they have ever had, which pleases us the most as we want people to share the magic of Carrig Cnoc.
