About this property
Meadow View - a house that sleeps 6 guests in 3 bedrooms
Meadow View provides spacious holiday accommodation on the edge of Lochearnhead and has views to the loch and the peaks of the near by mountains, Ben Vorlich and Stùc a' Chroin. The traditional semi detached cottage has recently been modernised and a modern sun room added which complements the original character of the cottage. There is ample space making it a perfect holiday base for families and groups of six.
The well-equipped kitchen has everything you need to prepare a special meal, but if you'd rather enjoy a true holiday from cooking, you'll find plenty of excellent dining options nearby. The lively town of Killin is just a 15-minute drive away and offers a great selection of bars, restaurants, cafés, and shops. Slightly further afield, but still within easy reach, are the charming villages of St Fillans and Comrie—both well known for their high-quality eateries and welcoming atmosphere. The picturesque village of Callander is also nearby and provides even more options for dining, shopping, and exploring the local area. While Lochearnhead itself is a small village, it comes alive in the summer with its popular Highland Games and renowned sheep shearing competition, offering a unique taste of traditional Scottish culture.
The area around the cottage is a haven for wildlife and you may get the chance to spot red squirrels, a great variety of wild birds and red deer. There are walks from the door taking you to the Glen Ogle Trail, for those needing more of a challenge there is the long distance Rob Roy Trial and also a great choice of Munro peaks to be bagged. If you would rather just enjoy some rest and relaxation, then take a while in the sun room and enjoy the views over the stunning Perthshire hills and meadows.
The cottage is in the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park and there is easy access to all the activities and attractions of the Park. Lochearn itself has many opportunities for water skiing, sailing, canoeing, walking, cycling, fishing or simply relaxing by visiting the local historic sites and villages. Not to be missed are the famous and spectacular Falls of Dochart at Killin along with the BLiSS trail of eye catching art and architectural installations linking the villages of Strathyre, Balquhidder, Lochearnhead and St Fillans and the National Trust for Scotland Moirlanich Longhouse near Killin.
Scotland's darker history can be explored locally with the tombstone for seven Macdonalds of Glencoe who were killed while attempting a raid on Ardvorlich House in 1620. While the cottage is in a very rural location it is still easy to explore Scotland's wider history with Stirling Castle, Scone Place, Edinburgh, Oban and Blair Drummond Wildlife Park all making for a good day out.
