A Beautifully Designed Tiny Home in Bude, Cornwall

The Hawthorn Shed is nestled within the lush and well-established gardens of our family home in Bude. It is only minutes away from the beautiful North Cornish coastline with it's sandy stretches of beaches, epic cliff walks and the Bude Sea Pool. Great for surfing, swimming, and various water sports. The Hawthorn Shed is within easy access to a variety of shops, cafes, restaurants, bars, and supermarkets.

The space
Welcome to The Hawthorn Shed, a self-build project by husband and wife, Maxim and Deborah. Nestled in the town of Bude-Stratton, this retreat seamlessly blends modern comfort with rustic charm.

The lodge has a fully equipped kitchen with - a microwave/oven/grill & air-fryer, a convection hob, toaster, kettle plus all the utensils and pots & pans you will need. The bathroom is a peaceful haven, featuring a luxurious Japanese bath. Rest on the built in double bed or unfold the versatile futon sofa into an additional double bed if needed. Underfloor heating and impeccable insulation ensure comfort throughout the year.

Crafted with precision, The Hawthorn Shed was built with high-end materials including self-charred Shou-Sugi-Ban Thermowood cladding, alu-clad glazed doors and windows and steel roofing with sound dampening material. Modern conveniences include full fibre Ethernet and WiFi at 60-70mbps (approx) for seamless connectivity.

Outside there is a patio and decking area, surrounded by green, lush gardens and a flourishing vegetable patch. The deck offers a serene spot for you to unwind and is a great sun trap, with a place to sit next to the hawthorn tree overlooking the garden. Shared amenities include a fire pit area for cozy evening gatherings and a ‘solar thermal’ outdoor shower - perfect for rinsing down after a day at the nearby beaches.
Guest access
Guests have sole use of the Hawthorn Shed and the decking area next to the hawthorn tree. Access is from the side/back gate with free on-street parking nearby.

There is shared use of the fire pit area and the outdoor shower.

Access to the yoga studio (if booked) is from the garden.
Other things to note
In our home there is a fully equipped Iyengar Yoga studio with its own entrance from the garden. A perfect place to integrate yoga into your stay on the beautiful North Cornwall coastline. Book in a morning yoga session before adventuring out or enjoy a relaxing class after a long walk or surf… or an active class after a lazy day at the beach! Deborah is a level 3 qualified Iyengar Yoga teacher and has practiced Iyengar Yoga since 1990. There are regular classes that you may be able to attend or private classes are available to book also. We share our family home with our children and our ridiculously friendly Husky x Utonagan, she may well want to come and say hello when you are in the garden. The garden has a vegetable patch which is often tended to and the gardens are used by all.

We have chickens in the garden that have their own enclosure but sometimes wonder freely in the garden. There are fresh eggs we can offer when available!
