About this property
Irie - baskeyrentals
In the heart of Aretxabaleta, surrounded by history, local life, and nature just steps away, you'll find IRIE, a fully renovated traditional house that blends the charm of the old with modern comfort. The name IRIE, which in the local Basque dialect refers to the fern—abundant in the natural surroundings of the town—gives character to the home, reflected in its botanical details and materials designed to create a fresh, harmonious, and calming atmosphere.
Located in the heart of the Debagoiena valley, Aretxabaleta is a town with a strong identity, surrounded by gentle mountains and green areas such as the Urkulu reservoir and Mount Murugain. Its historic center is home to heritage gems like stately homes and the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption, along with a vibrant local life filled with shops, bars, and neighborhood markets.
Ideally situated in the heart of the old town, Aretxabaleta is an excellent base to explore inland Gipuzkoa, without giving up proximity to the major Basque capitals: Vitoria-Gasteiz is only 35 minutes away by car, Bilbao an hour, and San Sebastián around 40 minutes.
Irie is located on the first floor of a house without an elevator. It is a wooden-structured home typical of traditional Basque houses, with capacity for four people and three cozy bedrooms: two with 1.50 m double beds (one of them with a private dressing room and integrated balcony), and one with two single beds. The house also includes an office-style space, ideal for remote work in the birthplace of Basque cooperativism. There is a spacious, modern, and functional bathroom with a shower—perfect for both family stays and getaways with friends.
The fully equipped kitchen is separate from the living room, maintaining the classic yet updated layout of Basque homes. The warm and spacious living room invites you to relax after a day of exploring the region. The real luxury, however, is the large terrace: a perfect outdoor space for peaceful breakfasts, al fresco dinners, or simply relaxing in the sun, with a covered section ideal for sheltering from the rain right in the center of Aretxabaleta.
Easy, keyless access
The entrance to the home is fully digitalized. Before arrival, guests must download an app to check in and open the doors—no need for a physical key exchange. A deposit of €200 is required, fully refundable at the end of the stay if everything is in order.
