Town: The quaint countryside village of Longden is tucked away in a peaceful corner of Shropshire, with Shrewsbury market town just over five miles away and Carding Mill Valley and the Long Mynd resting beneath. This small parish destination is home to The Tankerville Arms, a welcoming country pub surrounded by picturesque walking trails and cycle routes, a local convenience store, a private tennis club, a playground park, and a recreational field. The church of St Ruthen dates back to the 1500s, originally built as a chapel to the parish church at Pontesbury. With ties to medieval origins, it is home to a war memorial and is the resting place of two World War II soldiers. Shrewsbury market town is a short car ride away, a historic medieval settlement with the gorgeous River Severn flowing through, boasting attractions including Attingham Park, Shrewsbury Historic Church Trail, Shrewsbury Castle, and Ironbridge Gorge. Longden is a lovely base to explore The Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with striking landscapes, rocky hills, and unique wildlife, you'll never be bored in this area!
