You might be in town for a show or visiting friends or colleagues. Birmingham has a lot of everything for everyone. The Jewellery Quarter is bustling with the city’s best cafes, bars, and restaurants (we recommend Trentina and Lasan), and the friendliest locals on this side of the Midlands. What’s more, JQ is one of the oldest areas in Birmingham and it’s preserved a lot of its original architectural beauty. About the host
Hosted by Katiya

I’m originally from Birmingham and I’ve always loved the mix of history and creativity in this city, especially the Jewellery Quarter — it’s one of my favourite places! When I’m not hosting, I enjoy exploring local independent cafés, visiting art galleries, and discovering new places to eat around the area.
I love being a host because I get to meet people from all over the world and share what makes this neighbourhood so special. I take pride in making sure guests feel comfortable and at home — I’m always happy to share tips on the best hidden gems, whether that’s a unique jeweller, a cosy coffee spot, or a local event happening nearby.
My goal is for everyone who stays to feel welcome and to enjoy the Jewellery Quarter as much as I do.

Why they chose this property
Its one of the most unique and historic areas in Birmingham. It’s full of character, with beautiful old buildings, cobbled streets, and a real sense of community. I love that it’s known for its jewellery heritage — you can really feel the history as you walk around, and there are still lots of independent jewellers and workshops here.
The area has a great mix of old and new. There are traditional jewellery shops and goldsmiths alongside trendy cafés, creative studios, and independent bars. On a sunny day, it’s lovely to wander through St Paul’s Square, which feels like a little oasis with its Georgian church and green space. The atmosphere is relaxed yet lively — there’s always something going on, whether it’s an art market, a local gig, or people just sitting outside having coffee.
What I enjoy most is how vibrant yet welcoming it feels. It has an artistic vibe, lots of hidden gems to discover, and you’re just a short walk away from the city centre but still feel like you’re in a neighbourhood with its own identity. It’s inspiring and has a real sense of community, which makes it a great place to spend time.

What makes this property unique
It’s tucked away on a quieter street, so you get peace and privacy, but you’re still just a few minutes’ walk from the cafés, bars, and St Paul’s Square. I’ve also made the place feel really homely, with thoughtful décor and little details that give it a warm, welcoming vibe — I think that’s something people notice as soon as they walk in.
