About this property
Stay North -- Hemudd
Located in the historic village of Ors in Inkoo, Hemudd offers a private coastal stay with space for up to 7 guests. The house includes 3 bedrooms, a separate wood-fired sauna, and areas for indoor and outdoor activities. A short walk from the Barösund strait, it provides a comfortable base for exploring the local heritage, enjoying nature, or simply spending time together in a setting that feels personal and lived-in.
Originally built in 1898 and expanded in 1924, Hemudd carries the history of its builder—wallpaper installer Karl Emil Fagerlund—into the present day. Framed pieces of original wallpaper and patterns inspired by the house’s past give the interior a thoughtful and slightly bohemian character. The layout includes one bathroom, three bedrooms, and a central living and kitchen area, with large windows that frame views of the surrounding trees and water.
The downstairs bedroom has one single bed and a chair bed, while upstairs, one bedroom has a double bed and the other has three singles. Heating comes from electric radiators and two remote-controlled air source heat pumps.
Outdoors, visitors can make use of two hammocks, a charcoal grill, SUP boards, a climbing structure, and outdoor seating for ten. A solar-powered shower is available in the warmer months. The separate wood-fired sauna is located close to the water, with a path leading down to the pier. A small sailing dinghy (for experienced sailors) is also available for use.
Inside, the house offers a piano with sheet music, books in Finnish and English, puzzles, board games, and Apple TV for relaxed time after outdoor activities.
The Barösund shipping lane, a nationally recognised cultural heritage site, runs nearby. The region’s character comes through in the nearby Fagervik ironworks, Raseborg Castle ruins, and the island of Elisaari with its nature trails. In summer, markets, fish smokeries, cafés, restaurants, and a hotel with fine dining bring local colour to the area. Ferries operate around the clock, and Inkoo’s services are within easy reach by bus.
Hemudd offers a memorable stay where history, nature, and comfort come together.
