About this property
Self-contained Annexe in Norfolk Broads. Quiet getaway for one or two.
Situated just on the edge of the Norfolk Broads, this freshly renovated annexe is based in the peaceful village of Ormesby St Margaret, just 5 min drive from the stunning sandy beach at California.
We have a village pub, Indian restaurant, fish & chip shop, Chinese takeaway and a Spar shop, all under 5 min walk away.
You can explore the beautiful Norfolk countryside and its many attractions (sandy beaches, sailing on the Broads, birdwatching, fishing, etc) by car and on foot.
This property is ideal for weekend getaways, working trips and week-long breaks - great for couples, solo adventurers, and business travellers. It is less than half an hour's drive from the historic city of Norwich, and 15 min drive from the seaside resort of Great Yarmouth. A pleasant coastal drive to Cromer with its iconic pier and sandy beach, passing through some of Norfolk's prettiest seaside towns and villages, is a great way start exploring this beautiful rural county.
The annexe was originally a farm stable and was joined on to the main house in the mid-20th century. It has its own front and back access doors, thus giving you privacy and independence. It comprises a kitchen, lounge/bedroom with ensuite shower room and WC, and a spacious conservatory for your personal use.
The rear access door is at the far end of the conservatory. Through this exit, guests have access to the host's large rear garden with a gas bbq and table and chairs.
Park your car in the large gravelled area in front of the main house. The path to the left of the house leads to your accommodation, and you will see the key lockbox by your front door.
The annexe opens into the kitchen, equipped with airfryer, microwave, electric double hotplate, fridge, toaster, electric kettle and cafetiere. There is ample crockery, cutlery and glassware.
Exit the kitchen up two steps into the lounge/bedroom which has a double divan bed with drawers, a luxurious sofa and a TV on a wooden cabinet stand with storage for books and games. All bed linen, bath towels, hand towels and bath mat are provided. A winter duvet and blankets are stored in the bed drawers.
The shower room/WC is ensuite to this main living and sleeping area, and has a hand basin with vanity unit and a heated towel rail. The shower has a movable spray head and fixed rainfall head. A hair dryer is supplied.
From the lounge/bedroom, enter through double doors into the spacious conservatory which leads to the large rear garden. The conservatory has numerous plants and two wicker chairs next to a small table, where you can enjoy a drink or two when the sun isn't too hot.
Once you've settled in, you can start enjoying all the activities that the Norfolk Broads offer: day boat hire, kayaking or walking along the waterways and picturesque villages, freshwater fishing at its numerous lakes and rivers, and sea fishing from sandy beaches and Yarmouth Pier, and plenty of rural circular walks.
As well as the village's shops and eateries mentioned above, just 8 minute's walk away, we have Hirst's Farm Shop and Café, for great breakfast, lunch, sweet treats and Sunday roasts. Here, you can also buy fresh farm produce, such as eggs, meat and seasonal fruit and vegetables.
Also, just a 4 minute drive from the village is The Smokehouse, a southern style American diner with live bands every Thursday and Saturday.
If you want a country pub with gastro dining, just 5 minutes' drive away is The Boathouse, set in 11 acres of beautiful parkland on the banks of Ormesby Broad.
Guests can park in the main house driveway and access the accommodation via a path to the left of the main house.
You are able to use the host's back garden and bbq area at any reasonable time.
OTHER THINGS TO NOTE:
Unlimited WiFi available.
Fresh milk, teabags, coffee, sugar and biscuits are provided on the day of arrival.
Also provided for use during your visit are books and games.
