🌍 Eco by Design
Every stay supports the planet as well as your wellbeing. From our solar-powered pool heating to rainwater-fed ice baths, from sustainably sourced wood to low-impact design, every detail is chosen to care for the earth as much as our guests.

The only exception, of course, is Champagne, because sometimes only Champagne will do. 🥂
By choosing local first, we reduce wine miles, support Welsh producers, and ensure every glass tells a story of Wales.

About the host
Hosted by Andy Parfitt Jones

We’re Andy and Mark, your hosts at The Retreat at Little Oaks. After long careers in different fields, we followed our passion to create a place where people can relax, recharge, and enjoy the best of Wales. Mark is a wellness specialist with decades of experience in Pilates, craniosacral therapy, and structural integration, while Andy brings a love of hospitality, local culture, and sustainability.
We live here in Blaenavon, a UNESCO World Heritage town surrounded by beautiful woodland and the Brecon Beacons. We enjoy walking the local trails with our Alaskan Malamute named Chewey, discovering Welsh food and wine, and welcoming guests who want to experience the area’s history, nature, and tranquility. Hosting is our way of sharing both our home and our ethos of wellness and care for the environment.
We look forward to welcoming you, whether you’re here to relax by the pool, book a wellness treatment, or explore the heritage of Wales.

Why they chose this property
✨ We chose this place so you could experience its magic.
Blaenavon is a town with a soul, celebrated by UNESCO for its role in shaping the modern world. At the same time, it is surrounded by wild hills, ancient woodland, and the gateway to the Brecon Beacons National Park. Few places blend heritage and nature so seamlessly, and that is why we knew this was the perfect setting for The Retreat at Little Oaks.
The woodland around us creates a natural haven, alive with birdsong, wildlife, and seasonal colour. Step outside and you are immediately connected to trails, panoramic mountain views, and skies so dark they are filled with stars. It is the kind of environment that restores you without effort; peaceful, grounding, and timeless.
Equally, the history here is extraordinary. Guests can visit Big Pit National Coal Museum, Blaenavon Ironworks, Blaenavon Heritage Steam Railway or the town’s many heritage landmarks, all within minutes of the retreat. This area’s industrial past is not just history, it is part of a living story that shaped communities and landscapes across the world. Experiencing that heritage alongside today’s natural beauty makes Blaenavon a destination unlike any other.
We also wanted to celebrate the culture of Wales, and one way we do that is through our curated list of award-winning Welsh wines and spirits. White Castle Vineyard, just nine miles away, produces internationally acclaimed bottles, while Barry Island Spirits Co brings creativity and local flavour. By sharing these with our guests, we connect you not only to the land but also to the makers who carry its traditions forward.
We created The Retreat at Little Oaks to bring all these elements together: the tranquillity of nature, the inspiration of history, the taste of Wales, and the power of wellness.
