About this property
Felicia - Five Bedroom Villa, Sleeps 10
A panoramic waterfront villa with pool, tennis court, wrap-around terraces, and a tranquil, welcoming ambience.
Felicia occupies a fabulously private seafront position gazing out over the waters of the Gulf of Argostoli to the wooded hills of the Paliki peninsula. Offering an abundance of space inside and extensive terraces and gardens outside, it's an ideal home for larger gatherings of family and friends. And with the lovely town of Argostoli and a selection of small beaches within walking distance, guests have the best of all worlds.
Inside: accommodation at Felicia is laid out over three floors.
The main entrance leads in to a spacious, welcoming open-plan space that's divided into two distinct parts. First is the sea-view living room, which is furnished with a pair of comfy sofas flanking a fireplace, a scattering of armchairs, and a table and chairs. Three sets of French windows ensure plenty of light comes in while at the same time allowing easy access to the surrounding terrace.
Through a wide arch and up a couple of steps is the indoor dining area, which opens out onto the pool terrace and is served by a guest WC and, next door, by a well-equipped kitchen, also with terrace access.
Stairs lead up from the dining area to the first floor, which is home to a wonderful suite, comprising a generously proportioned sea-view double-twin bedroom with lofty wood-beamed ceilings, a pair of French windows opening out onto a super-panoramic terrace, and an en-suite bathroom with tub and shower attachment.
The remaining accommodation at Felicia is situated on the lower ground floor, which is accessed either via stairs from the kitchen or externally from the lower terraces. There is a semi-circular living area with built-in cushioned seating and a TV, a kitchen, and four welcoming bedrooms:
• a double-twin with en-suite shower room
• a double-twin with terrace access and en-suite bathroom with tub and shower attachment
• a double-twin with terrace access and en-suite shower room
• a smaller twin with en-suite bathroom with tub and shower attachment
Outside: Felicia sits amidst extensive, secluded grounds and offers numerous possibilities for al fresco life.
A large expanse of paved terrace runs along the sea-facing side of the house, making the most of the glorious panoramas over the Gulf of Argostoli to the Paliki peninsular, behind which the sun magically sets. Accessed from the living and dining room and from the kitchen, this fabulous space includes a lovely pool flanked by a long covered dining and lounging area, a second shady spot with a sitting and dining area, a couple of leafy trees, and a semi-circular belvedere designed for those who enjoy gazing out to sea.
The suite on the first floor has its own private terrace, from where the views are at their best, while the lower ground floor rooms are also flanked by well-furnished terraces.
The grounds fan out around the house and feature mature cypress, pine and olive trees, natural lawns, and a wide variety of Mediterranean flora. Weaving amongst all this is a series of paths, one of which leads to the tennis court, a fabulous extra for those with a penchant for sport. Another path, meanwhile, leads down through the grounds to a gate and on to the seafront, where there are a few little coves.
This property is surrounded by countryside, some of which is unfenced and may include drops or steep slopes. We therefore recommend that younger children be supervised by an adult when exploring the grounds.
The number of steps that must be negotiated to get into and around this property might make it unsuitable for people with mobility problems.
Please note that there is no real shallow end in the pool, whose minimum depth is 1.25m.
Due to its location, the internet network at this villa is slower than in many of our properties. While it does allow standard browsing, it is not adequate for online streaming or remote working.
Felicia is located just to the west of buzzing Argostoli, the capital of Kefalonia, and looks out over the eponymous gulf towards the Paliki peninsula.
Just a five-minute drive away, Argostoli is well worth spending time in, not only for its pleasant pedestrianised streets flanked by tavernas, cafés and shops, but also for its market and its museums (one dedicated to the island's archaeology, the other to folklore). It is possible to walk to town from Felicia in about 20 minutes via a track across the wooded hills.
Apart from the little beaches at the bottom of the garden, there are several others nearby, including those of Kalamia, Gradakia, Paliostafida and Makris Gialos, all around five minutes away by car. A great many other beaches can be found on the south and west coasts. Of particular beauty is the stretch of white sand at Myrtos.
Kefalonia is the largest of the Ionian Islands but still easy to discover in a week (even the northernmost tip, with the lovely harbour village of Fiskardo, is only an hour away).
Of historical note is the Venetian Castle of St George, which offers insights into the island's past, while keen walkers will enjoy exploring Kefalonia's many walking routes, including the one up to the summit of Mount Ainos, which rises to over 1,600m. Needless to say, the views are unforgettable and well worth the trek.
Just 4km east of Kefalonia is the island of Ithaca and it's easy to spend a day there, thanks to the frequent crossings from the port of Sami.
Arrival details will be confirmed by The Thinking Traveller after your villa is confirmed.
