About this property
The Bantams, Monk Soham
Escape to this beautifully renovated country cottage in the peaceful village of Monk Soham, surrounded by open fields, farmland, and the gentle trickle of a nearby stream. It’s the perfect place to unwind, explore the Suffolk countryside, or even work remotely in a quiet, inspiring setting.
The property is ideally located just a short drive from the popular market town of Framlingham, where you’ll find independent shops, cafés, a historic castle, and a lively Saturday market. The neighbouring village also offers a real taste of local life with a traditional pub, The Victoria, and a much-loved butcher, Huttons.
Step into the cottage through a light-filled conservatory, which serves as a welcoming entrance and practical boot room. From here, you enter a spacious open-plan kitchen and dining area, recently renovated and fully equipped with a six-hob gas cooker, double oven, two fridges, and plenty of counter space—perfect for preparing anything from family meals to leisurely breakfasts.
The adjoining living room offers a cosy place to relax with a 43” smart TV and a newly installed wood-burning stove, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. A small study area in the old porch offers a quiet space to work or read, and the fibre-optic broadband throughout the house ensures a reliable connection for remote working or streaming. Also on the ground floor, you’ll find a utility room with a washing machine and tumble dryer, along with a downstairs WC for added convenience.
Upstairs, the cottage has two comfortable double bedrooms with beautiful wooden floors, along with a third room that can serve as a spare bedroom or study, featuring a futon sofa bed. The family bathroom includes a full-sized bath with an overhead shower.
Outside, the property opens up to a generous garden bordered by a small stream and country road. The main garden area features a weeping willow, grassy lawn, and several fruit trees including apple, pear, and plum. A patio area with table and chairs is perfect for outdoor dining, and there’s a small charcoal barbecue and firepit for long summer evenings or crisp autumn nights under the stars. With little light pollution, the garden is ideal for stargazing on clear nights.
The cottage also offers ample off-road parking with a driveway that can accommodate up to four cars. Please note that while the garden is private and spacious, children and pets should be supervised due to the proximity of the stream and road. Guests are also asked to bring their own firewood for the stove and firepit. The garden shed, greenhouse, and outbuildings are not available for guest use.
Whether you're looking for a peaceful countryside break, a comfortable base to explore Suffolk, or simply a quiet place to relax and recharge, this cosy cottage offers the perfect rural escape.
