About this property

Entire Grade 2 listed cottage in Thornton-Le-Dale

*We’re slowly making some decorative changes to Hill Cottage, this could mean things might look a little different when you come to stay from the pictures.

Based in the picturesque village of Thornton-Le-Dale, this Grade 2 listed cosy cottage built before 1850 boasts all the charm that the village has to offer. Within easy walking distance of local pubs, cafes, restaurants and shops. Hill Cottage is a charming one bedroom cottage with original features that transport you back in time. Hill Cottage is the perfect place to relax in front of a log burning fire after a day of exploring what Thornton-Le-Dale has to offer.

The space
Hill Cottage is on the doorstep of Dalby forest and the North Yorkshire Moors national park as well as being close to Whitby and York. Whether you’re looking to get out into nature, explore surrounding areas or simply for a country break, Hill Cottage is the perfect base.

The cottage comprises of a generous double bedroom with a double bed, vanity table and storage. A cosy open dining room and living room with a toasty log burner and original stone wall seat. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you might need. Including an oven, hob, microwave, kettle, coffee machine etc. The petite shower room is renovated from a previous outhouse and is now an adjoined modern space with all the modern comforts.

Guests have access to a private garden to the rear of the property with seating and a BBQ.

*Please note the cottage is very old and has not been designed with small child safety in mind, please take care on the stairs as they are steep and slightly uneven, the bannisters are quite wide which means a small dog or a child could potentially get through. Some of the fence in the garden is below 1.5m, if you wish to bring your pet, please make sure your pet does not jump over the fence into the neighbor's garden!

Guest access
Guests have access to the property to the front and the back of the property. For initial access the lock box is located at the rear.

From the rear of the property find the lock box walk through the small out building and down the thin alleyway to the property where it opens up into a larger garden where the property can be accessed from the back of the property.

Bikes can be stored in the small out building to the rear of the property.

*Please note the door to the rear of the property automatically locks behind you, so don’t forget your keys!

Other things to note

CHECK-IN / CHECK-OUT
Check in time is from 4pm and checkout time is 10am. Please contact us if you would like to request an early check in or late checkout.

PARKING
Unfortunately there is no off street parking at the property. There is on-street parking near the property, alternatively the road ‘south lane’ to the rear of the property is very quiet and people frequently park here.

PETS
We welcome pets at Hill Cottage but please let me know if you wish to bring a pet or two. We do charge £10 for 1 dog and an additional £5 for every other dog per stay to account for the extra cleaning required.
