About this property

Ancient dwelling Dorothea center Sicily

The historic Dorotea Mansion, located in the heart of Pietraperzia’s historic centre, is dedicated by its owners to the most noble figure of Dorotea Barresi, Princess of Pietraperzia and Butera and Vice-Queen of Naples, the last feudal descendant of the ancient and highly prestigious aristocratic family. The atmosphere is steeped in history; the historic Dorotea residence features not only a well-stocked library but also antique 19th-century majolica tiles and Sicilian antique furnishings.
The historic Dorotea residence consists of a built-in kitchen with all amenities, a spacious and bright master bedroom with air conditioning and a TV, a second bedroom with a double bed, an en suite bathroom, and a portable fan, a second full bathroom, a convenient laundry room accessible from the terrace, a bright living room with a double sofa bed (if needed for two additional guests) and a 50-inch smart TV, and to top it all off, you’ll have access to the fully equipped terrace.
Free street parking is available near the apartment.
Just around the corner, you’ll find the main square. In town, you’ll find pizzerias, pubs, and bakeries. We recommend exploring the entire historic centre on foot to fully experience the history of Pietraperzia.
At check-in, we’ll provide you with all the tips you need to enjoy a peaceful stay.

Where you’ll be
Pietraperzia, Sicily, Italy
Near the house, you’ll find a supermarket, a pharmacy, and several bars. The residence is located in the charming and welcoming historic centre of the town; nearby, you can admire the centuries-old churches: the imposing Mother Church, which houses the remains of Dorotea Barresi in a sumptuous sarcophagus along with the tombs of other family members, and the Church of the Rosary with its Greek cross layout. Just a short walk away are the ruins of the ancient and highly significant Barresi Castle.
Easter week in the town of Pietraperzia is particularly interesting; on Good Friday, the unique and evocative nighttime procession "U Signuri di li Fasci," which you can also admire from the apartment’s balconies, and on Easter Sunday, the meeting between the Virgin Mary and the Risen Christ, which takes place in the nearby main square of the town. Throughout the area between Enna and Caltanissetta, there are numerous fascinating processions.

Getting around the area: We recommend arriving by car so you can explore the entire island from central Sicily. Given its geographical location, which is well-served by a functional network of highways and roads, it is easy to reach various destinations across Sicily from Pietraperzia, where you can admire and enjoy the immense heritage of land and sea—including the scenic, natural, artistic, and historical-cultural treasures found in the island’s diverse and ever-fascinating cities. Just a 15-minute drive from Asoli, you’ll find the Villa Romana del Casale and the Cathedral of Piazza Armerina, as well as the Goddess of Morgantina on display at the Archaeological Museum of Aidone. Just 50 minutes away, you can visit the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento and the marvellous Scala dei Turchi. In short, thanks to its strategic location, it also makes it easier to explore all of Sicily—from north to south and east to west. The airport is about an hour away from both Catania and Palermo.
