About this property
1 Bed in Corbridge (oc-t31977)
A cosy retreat nestled in the heart of Corbridge, this one-bedroom hideaway is the perfect place for a romantic stay in Northumberland. Sleeping just two guests, and also welcoming a four-legged friend, the exquisite old cottage encompasses both an open fire and an enclosed garden, making it ideal for year-round breaks. Within 50 metres of independent shops and eateries, such as Grant's bakery for delicious cakes, sandwiches and more, it is well placed for those wishing to explore the village’s colourful Roman history. Stroll less than 1 mile to wander through the remains of the old Roman town. Visit the museum with its time capsule of Roman life and other exciting finds. Venture 3 miles out of Corbridge to see Hadrian’s Wall and pick up the picturesque coast-to-coast path that runs alongside it, and spend a day at Vindolanda fort and Roman Army Museum, just 15 miles from here. Head into bustling Hexham, 5 miles away, to stroll through beautiful Sele Park, see the abbey, and treat yourselves to a day out at the races.
Step inside this stone cottage to find a friendly welcome in the open-plan lounge/diner. With its beamed ceiling and large fireplace, it exudes comfort, as well as charm, and is the perfect place to kick back and relax after your busy days exploring the area. Lay a fire during the colder months, then settle on the leather sofa with a book or with the Smart TV on. Listen to music via the DAB radio as you plan your adventures for the following day. On those occasions, you choose not to dine out in Corbridge, take a step down into the kitchen to whip up a snack or prepare a feast. Dine together in the main living room and enjoy breakfast and morning coffee on the stools in the adjoining sunroom as you gaze out into the garden. The bathroom, where you can enjoy a long, bubble soak, is just off the kitchen. As night falls, make your way up to the king-size bedroom on the mezzanine-style floor. With a vaulted and beamed ceiling, white-washed stone walls and a sofa, this is a great place to rest and recuperate. There is also a desk in here for those wishing to catch up on some work or to use as a dressing table.
Step out into the fresh air via the sunroom. Let your canine companion explore the enclosed garden while you dine outside or recline on the rattan sofa for a spell. Watch the birds during the day and the stars above at night. There is space out here for your bicycles too. Parking for the cottage is on the street, with some free and some paid spaces. Guests are encouraged to unload in front of the property and then park in the large, free car 0.5 miles away. The route to and from the car park involves a pleasant walk over the bridge.
