About this property
2 Bed in Carreghofa (oc-t32530)
Tucked away down a peaceful rural lane, just outside the charming village of Llanymynych, this four-person holiday home provides a wonderfully relaxing base on the England/Wales border. Join scenic walking and cycling routes from your doorstep, including the Offa’s Dyke Path and Montgomery Canal. For days out, the market town of Oswestry (7 miles) appeals with its shops and cafes, while Shrewsbury (18.5 miles) and Welshpool (10.5 miles) are also within easy reach. Enjoy a stroll along the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, a World Heritage Site (19 miles), or explore one of two spectacular National Trust properties nearby – Chirk Castle and Powis Castle, both within 15 miles. For an unforgettable day in nature, make a trip to the tranquil shores of Lake Vyrnwy (21 miles).
Step inside to discover a beautifully restored former village Blacksmith's with exposed beams and bags of character. The main entrance opens into a sociable kitchen and dining space that flows into a cosy lounge complete with original beams, a gorgeous inglenook fireplace and a wood burner – perfect for snuggling up after a day of exploring. The interiors have been lovingly styled with antique furniture and traditional details to reflect the property’s heritage. Just off the kitchen, you’ll find a handy downstairs shower room and WC, followed by a spacious ground-floor bedroom with twin beds (which can be made up as a king on request) and a large en-suite shower room. Upstairs, a second double bedroom comes with its own private balcony with bistro table and chairs – a lovely spot to enjoy the view, a glass of wine, watch the birds or dive into a good book.
Outside, French doors lead from the lounge to a private patio with a dining table beside the gently flowing Tanat Feeder brook. There’s also secure bike storage and space to park two to three cars, plus EV fixed charging unit.
