The perfect cabin for your cozy retreat into the woods! Our immaculate mountain home is tucked away in quiet Tahoe/Donner and is well-equipped with all the amenities to make your stay wonderful.

Our mountain retreat is a 1,400 square foot, three bedrooms, two bath home just 3 miles from Truckee, California. The space is the perfect blend of rustic cabin and modern home, with vaulted ceilings, log furniture throughout, river rock entryway, and a historic barrel fireplace.

The kitchen has granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, bar seating, a log dining room table, and all the accessories you need to prepare any type of meal. The dining room table seats 8 comfortably. There’s a gas grill just outside the back deck door for easy access to open flame!

Located in the hall near the kitchen is a full laundry room and bathroom #1 with a double sink and private toilet + full shower.

In the living room, relax on the two comfy sofas that have 4 reclining seats in front of the barrel fireplace and an entertainment area with flatscreen TV (no cable) and HDMI connections for a computer or tablet.

On the main level, you’ll also find two bedrooms. The bunk room sleeps 4 in two beautifully designed, and comfortable log bunk beds. The room includes a full closet and dresser for belongings. Across the hall from the bunk room, you’ll find a queen bedroom with vaulted ceilings, a large closet, and a dresser.

Upstairs is the spacious loft with a queen bed, full bath, dresser, closet, and mini 3-tiered billiards table (bubble hockey, foosball, pool). This area boasts lots of natural light, a view of the living/dining room, and if needed, plenty of space for an air mattress that’s handy in the closet near the stairs.

The cabin has 2 large decks, one in the front near the entry for soaking up the summer sunshine, and another in the rear that overlooks the peaceful backyard and no neighbors to the rear. Off the back deck, you’ll find a 6-person hot tub just 10 steps from the deck door!

Tahoe Donner is a members-only resort community that provides excellent amenities for guests for a $17 daily fee. In the summertime, our favorite is the Private beach club with boat launch, boat rentals, and snack bar. Winter time: check out the recreation center with three heated swimming pools (one open year-round) and play areas; an exceptional gym with hot tubs, steam room and sauna; and endless hiking trails.

Information on all Tahoe Donner amenities: Two recreation centers with swimming pools and a gym; Donner Lake Marina Club with chairs, a cafe, a boat launch and kayak, paddleboard, windsurfer, and paddleboat rentals; two golf courses and driving range; tennis center with 11 beautiful courts; equestrian center with horse and pony rides; downhill and cross country ski areas; bicycle rental and trails; sledding and snow play area; and archery range, bocce and volleyball ball courts; and a spectacular network of hiking trails.

Tahoe Donner is approximately 15 minutes from Squaw Valley/Alpine Meadows, Northstar, Sugar Bowl and Boreal ski resorts. Mt. Rose (a local favorite) is located just 30 miles east.

Downtown Truckee has everything you need from grocery stores and a wide array of restaurants to galleries and shopping boutiques. Be sure to checkout charming old town Truckee, located just 4 miles from the house! Beautiful Lake Tahoe is just 15 miles away and Reno is 30 miles away.

Great time as a seasonal ski lease
We loved our stay at Jake’s place! There were seven of us who had the place for 3 months as a ski lease and we’d come and go throughout the season. Jake was great to communicate with, very quick and helpful. The cabin was cozy and a perfect fit for our group. We’d definitely recommend it!

Wonderful Truckee House!!
I could not be happier with my stay at this wonderful property! From the start communication with the owner was easy and friendly! He always responded to my questions and sent very nice messages and even let me check in a bit early since the cleaners were finished. When we arrived the house was immaculate and warm! The heater cranks which is sooo important for a stay in the winter! The thermostat was easy to use and mostly I turned the head down a bit since I run warm and he house is well insulated it stayed really warm and comfy. The beds were really comfortable. I slept in the downstairs queen as well as the queen I’m the loft. My son and his friends slept in the room with the bunk beds and they said the beds were really comfortable too. There are a TON of extra blankets if anyone needs them. Along with lots of pillows and my girlfriend came for one night with her two young sons and she found an extra mattress for one of her boys to use since they stayed in the loft. Calling it a loft doesn’t do it justice since it’s a very large bedroom with its own full bathroom. Both bathrooms were spotless and had great water pressure. The house has plenty of towels for use which was great for us since I was with teenagers and they seem to think they can’t reuse towels!! The washer/dryer came in handy too! The hot tub is clean and doesn’t smell weird like some hot tubs do. It’s really large and actually hot too with jets if you want or use those. The kitchen is stocked well with everything and even has a couple cast iron pans and bamboo spatulas which are my favorite!! The dishwasher works great and is quiet. It was an absolute joy to have an amazing coffee maker as well as things like salt and pepper, a few basic spices, and even a salad spinner! The living and dining rooms are large and inviting! It was really nice to have a HUGE dining room table that we could all sit/eat around. The location is really easy to get to and being on a main road was really convenient as well. The very slight incline of the driveway made me so happy as some homes in Tahoe have extremely steep driveways which stress me out I’m the snow. The driveway is large and the very slight incline made me feel much safer having to pull in and out of it in the snow. I could not be happier with this comfy, clean, and inviting home and staying here was definitely part of what made for a great long weekend in North Lake Tahoe!!

Cozy getaway
We loved our stay here and we were lucky enough to get snow before and during our stay. The house was perfect size for our two families and 4 kids and we all enjoyed the private hot tub.

Small-town Minnesota natives who spent 10 years in San Francisco before relocating to Denver in early 2020! I work in nonprofit technology, have a big adventure pup named Jack, and outside of work I spend most of my time enjoying the outdoors (ski, hike, surf, bike), exploring new restaurants, reading + podcasting, and drinking way to much coffee.

We love sharing our mountain home with others. It holds a very special place in our hearts. We hope you enjoy the space as much as we do.
