Nestled within a rural landscape of woodlands, olive groves, vineyards and hilltop villages at the southern tip of Umbria, La Casa di Bianca is a welcoming villa set within spacious grounds, ideal for families and groups of friends. Positioned on the borders of Umbria, Lazio and Tuscany, it is perfectly placed for exploring some of central Italy’s most beautiful towns and landscapes, from Orvieto and Bolsena to Terni and Bagnoregio, with even Rome easily reached by train. The surrounding countryside also reveals a wealth of lesser-known gems, including Amelia, Orte, Lake Vico and Caprarola, all waiting to be discovered.
Of course, many days will be spent by the pool and what a beautiful pool, its sparkling waters glimpsed through the hedges bordering the lower garden. Generously sized for swimming, the pool also features a seating ledge at one end — the perfect place to cool your feet, unwind, and take in the views across the olive grove. Turn around and your gaze drifts towards the woodland, a glorious natural space to explore at leisure, where the birdsong provides a gentle and ever-changing soundtrack to the day.

From the pool area steps lead up to the rest of the garden, where there is space for children to play and for adults to relax. A covered dining terrace is the setting for alfresco meals of pizza and pasta, with access via the French windows into the heart of the house, the spacious kitchen diner and living area.  The accomodation, flowing over three floors, is traditional and simple, with generously proportioned spaces designed for groups. The upper ground level has two double bedrooms, each with their own en suite facililities. The first floor is more suited to a family with children or teenagers sharing: on the left at the top of the stairs, there is a twin bedroom with an open archway leading into a double bedroom; to the right there is a shower room and, just beyond, an open sleeping nook for one.

Local amenities and restaurants can be found in nearby Lugnano di Teverina, Giove and Amelia, all within a 15 minute drive. A meander through scenic countryside leads you to fascinating spots to explore: from the fairytake frescos of Sant’Angelo to the lovely lakeside town of Bolsena, one of our favourites. For more 'water based' excursions, head to tranquil Lake Vico for kayaking and sailing or enjoy a relaxing visit to the thermal spas of Viterbo. Further afield, the coast at Marina di Pescia Romana offers dunes, a long sandy beach and shallow waters.

And finally, the capital Rome needs little introduction. Easily accessible from La Casa di Bianca, trains from Attigliano (12km) or Orte (20km) will whisk you into the heart of one of the world’s most iconic cities in around an hour. Before you leave, don’t forget to throw a coin in the Trevi Fountain to ensure you will return one day.
