About this property

Idyllic retreat in rural West Berkshire village

Come and unwind in this quiet rural retreat, in the valley of the River Pang, in West Berkshire, which is in the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Very quiet and peaceful location - the only thing you will hear at night is the owls hooting!
Miles of beautiful walks are on the doorstep, and we are also a short drive from the Ridgeway.
Excellent transport links to London/Heathrow airport, and close to the M4/A34 interchange.

A warm welcome awaits you!

(Adults only please and regrettably no pets)

The space:

Spacious and well equipped, the accommodation has one bedroom with an ensuite bathroom (shower and bath). There are blackout blinds in the bedroom.
The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you need to prepare a meal - with crookery and cutlery for 4 people. There is a 4 ring electric hob, oven, microwave, kettle, toaster, and coffee machine. There is also a washing machine and dryer.
The combined living area is light and airy with views over the countryside, a comfy leather sofa, and armchair, with a flat screen smart TV and DVD player.
There is super fast broadband, and the wifi connection is excellent.
The accommodation is very warm in the winter, and cool in the summer.

Guest access:

There is secure parking outside the accommodation and you have your own private entrance which is entirely separate from the main house.
There is an external staircase up to the front door, with safety grips on each step for your safety.
We have an enclosed garden, and there is a quiet area with outside seating and a table for you to enjoy the beautiful, shaded outdoor space.
We will aim to be there to welcome you on your arrival, but a key box is also available should that not be possible.
We are just across the garden if you need anything, or have any queries that we can help with.

Other things to note:

Cycle or walk to our local pub, The Pot Kiln.
Or you may prefer the well known - Royal Oak in Yattendon, (Best Dining Pub of the Year 2020/2021) which is less than two miles away.
Or enjoy a fresh craft beer, ale and delicious pizza's or burgers at the Renegade Brewery and Tap Room (formerly West Berkshire Brewery) which is only a mile away.
For delicious homemade breakfast, lunch and teas visit The Pantry in Yattendon, where bookings can be made. There is also a licensed village stores and post office in Yattendon, which is very well stocked with everything you could need, including meat from our local butcher.
There is also hairdresser and beauty salon in the village.
15 minutes drive to the M4/A34 (north/south east/west) interchange, and 7 miles from the market towns of Pangbourne and Newbury.
We are ideally placed for discovering Oxford, Bath, Bristol and Winchester. Heathrow airport is 41 miles away, and Southampton airport is only 35 miles.
Trains from Reading to London take less than 30 minutes, and you can access Reading via train links from either Newbury, Pangbourne, Theale or Thatcham.
There are many attractions in the area, including the Living Rainforest, Highclere Castle (Downton Abbey) and Thames River Cruise Boat Trips. We are within easy reach of Newbury Racecourse, and the Watermill Theatre in Donnington. A little further afield is Stonehenge or Windsor Castle.
