Our intention with the River House is that by coming to stay here, you have access to one of the most authentic, magical, and unique experiences in Crete, with the genuine hospitality the island is known for. We see it as a gateway to the best of the region, from deeply rooted cuisine and cultural traditions to immersive experiences such as farm to table dining on the land and cooking classes on site.

Set within a regenerative farm landscape in Apokoronas in western Crete, the villa looks out to the White Mountains, with a river flowing just beside the property and nature path, creating a setting that feels completely secluded while remaining remarkably close to everything.

What makes this place truly exceptional is its balance. You are just minutes from beaches, villages, and the vibrant city of Chania, yet here you are surrounded entirely by nature, without a neighbour in sight. This level of immersion combined with such proximity is incredibly rare, offering a sense of escape without compromise.

Designed with simplicity and Cycladic inspiration, this single storey villa invites a seamless indoor outdoor way of living. Each of the three bedrooms opens directly onto its own patio, allowing you to step straight into the landscape from the moment you wake. The villa comfortably accommodates five to six guests and includes three bedrooms, two bathrooms, an equipped kitchen and living area, a rooftop terrace, multiple outdoor patios, private parking, and a washing machine. Every detail has been considered to offer both comfort and a deep connection to the surrounding environment.

Guest access:

Set on a two-acre property, you will have exclusive use of the entire villa and gardens next to the house.

We are based on the other side of the farm, completely separate from the villa, ensuring your privacy. While we are not always on site, we remain available to support your stay whenever needed and the property is managed throughout your visit. The gardens and farm will most likely be tended to during your visit for watering and general maintenance.

Please note that Wi-Fi speeds in this part of Crete may be slower than what guests are accustomed to in larger cities.

As this is an agro-tourism villa immersed in nature, the experience here is an opportunity to slow down, unwind, and disconnect from the pace of everyday life. That said, we do offer the best Wi-Fi currently available in the area, and most guests find it perfectly suitable for everyday use. We simply ask that expectations are set accordingly, particularly for high-bandwidth work or streaming needs.

It is summer in Greece- so expect the sound of Cicadas! Also this is a farm surrounded by farms, so you may here the sound of grass being cut, sheep with their bells etc.

There are no neighbours but there is a nature walking path along the river so people will occasionally pass by or a farmer to access their land up the road.
