The Neighborhood:

Ruthin has its origins in the 13th Century and was a popular market-town. Evidence of its long and illustrious history can be found in the beams and brickwork in buildings throughout the town. Pendref Chapel is Ruthin's oldest chapel, dating back to around 1827. Other impressive medieval buildings include Maen Huail, where, according to legend, Huail was beheaded for trying to scupper King Arthur's quest for true love. In addition to sites of historical interest, many of the pubs and inns in Ruthin have their own tales to tell, such as the 16th Century Myddleton Arms; the site of many cock-fights and having an unusual window arrangement known locally as ‘the eyes of Ruthin'. Other attractions near to Ruthin include the striking ruins of Denbigh Castle and Valle Crucis Abbey, which dates back to the 13th Century.
