Perfectly positioned near historic Coxon’s Tower, The Wellington Hideaway is a charming single-storey retreat set within the Elizabethan walls of Berwick-upon-Tweed. Sleeping four guests across two bedrooms, this welcoming property is ideal for couples, friends or small families looking to explore Northumberland’s spectacular coastline and rich history.

All on one level, the cottage offers comfortable and practical accommodation. The open-plan living and dining area is a cosy space to gather, featuring a traditional open fire and TV, perfect for relaxing after a day by the sea or walking the town walls. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need for a self-catering stay, whether you’re preparing a hearty breakfast before heading out or enjoying a relaxed evening meal together.

The property has two bedrooms: one twin room and one superking, offering flexible sleeping arrangements to suit families or couples travelling together. A separate bathroom features a jacuzzi bath with shower over, ideal for unwinding and soothing tired legs after exploring the local coastline.

Outside, guests have access to a generously sized shared garden, providing a pleasant spot to enjoy the fresh sea air, morning coffee or an evening drink. The location is a real highlight, Coxon’s Tower sits along Berwick’s famous Elizabethan town walls, the only complete bastioned town walls in Britain. From here, you can enjoy panoramic views over the River Tweed and the dramatic Northumberland coastline.

Within easy walking distance, you’ll find Berwick’s independent shops, cafés, traditional pubs and restaurants serving local produce and fresh seafood. Spittal Beach offers a beautiful stretch of sand just a short walk away, while the wider Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty provides endless opportunities for walking, cycling and wildlife spotting.

You’re also ideally placed to explore Bamburgh Castle, Holy Island (Lindisfarne) and Alnwick Castle, or take a train from Berwick’s mainline station to Edinburgh in under an hour.
