About this property

Cae Rhug

Cae Rhug is a beautifully restored barn conversion set in peaceful countryside on the edge of Snowdonia National Park, offering a relaxing retreat for families and groups. The house enjoys views across Llyn Tegid (Bala Lake) towards the Arenig mountains, with no other houses within half a mile, giving a real sense of privacy and space. Guests also have access to surrounding fields and the lakeside, and children especially enjoy spotting the little train that occasionally passes behind the house.

The downstairs living areas are designed for comfort and sociable family time. At the heart of the home is a large open-plan kitchen, dining and living space with big windows and sliding doors that make the most of the surrounding views. The handmade kitchen is fully equipped and includes a wine fridge and a large fridge freezer with an ice machine. The dining table seats ten, with four additional seats at the breakfast bar on the island. A large corner sofa and woodburner make this the perfect space to gather in the evenings. There is also a separate snug with a TV, perfect for relaxing or giving children their own space. Underfloor heating runs throughout the downstairs, and a utility and boot room with washing machine, tumble dryer and sink provides a practical space for muddy boots and wellies.

The house sleeps up to eleven guests across five bedrooms on two floors. Upstairs there is a king-size bedroom with ensuite and a family room with one double bed and two single beds. Downstairs there is a superking bedroom with a sofa bed that sleeps two, a king-size bedroom and a single bedroom. The property has two bathrooms and a separate WC, including two showers and one bath.

Outside, the back garden is a great space for relaxing and spending time together. The covered outdoor area includes sofa seating and a six-person hot tub with views across the countryside, as well as a wood-fired sauna for guests to enjoy. The garden also has an all-weather play area with a Jumpking Pro giant trampoline, a mini football pitch and outdoor toys for children. From the garden you can enjoy views across Bala Lake and the surrounding hills.

At the front of the property there is a private driveway with parking for several cars, making it easy for larger groups arriving together.

Cae Rhug is ideally located for exploring Snowdonia National Park. The town of Bala is just a short drive away and is known for watersports, scenic walks and a selection of cafes and pubs. Bala Lake, the largest natural lake in Wales, is popular for kayaking, paddleboarding and sailing. The surrounding area offers plenty of walking and cycling routes, while further afield you can visit mountains, historic castles and beautiful coastal towns.
