About this property

Giorgos Suite - Jacuzzi Hideaway in Lydia, Kavala

Summary:

Set between Kavala and Drama, this ground-floor apartment opens to a spacious garden with a playground and a small farm with birds, geese, and a friendly donkey. Stone walls and warm interiors create a cozy feel, while the private yard, BBQ, and wellness room with jacuzzi (extra charge) are perfect for relaxing evenings. Cafés, tavernas, beaches, fast Wi-Fi, and free on-site parking complete the stay.

The Space:

This unique retreat opens into a living area where stone walls, warm lighting, and layered textiles create a setting that feels lived in from the moment you arrive. A fireplace anchors the room through the cooler months, while air conditioning keeps things comfortable when the weather turns warm. The sofa bed converts into a double when needed, bringing the apartment's capacity to six.

The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you might need during your stay, flowing naturally into the dining space so meals stay social whether you're cooking for two or for the whole group.

Two bedrooms each hold a double bed, dressed in crisp linens and styled to feel restful at the end of a day out. The bathroom carries the same character as the rest of the apartment, finished in dark stone with a walk in shower that reads more like a small ritual than a routine. A travel cot is available upon request, pets are welcome, and the layout is built for families and groups alike. Step outside and the property really comes into a private yard with outdoor furniture, while a parasol invites long lunches and slow afternoons. The BBQ handles dinner when the evenings stretch out, and the surrounding garden, playground, and small farm with birds and a friendly donkey turn the grounds themselves into part of the holiday. A dedicated wellness room with an indoor jacuzzi rounds out the experience, available by appointment for guests who want to wind down properly.

Guest Access:

You will have exclusive access to the ground floor apartment for the duration of your stay while you can also make your appointment for the spa room at an extra cost.

The Neighborhood:

The village of Lydia sits inland in the Kavala regional unit of Eastern Macedonia, on the green plain that stretches between the Aegean coast to the south and the Drama vineyards to the north. The setting is rural and quietly lived in, framed by farmland, low hills, and views toward Mount Pangaion in the distance. It suits guests who want space and authenticity over resort polish, with both Kavala and Drama about 18 km away and reachable in roughly 20 minutes. Within the village itself you find a well stocked supermarket about 100 metres from the property, tavernas at a similar distance, a pharmacy nearby, and the regional bus stop for the Kavala to Drama line about 500 metres away.

The coast opens up south of the village. Ammolofoi, around 35 km away, is the headline beach of the area, a long ribbon of fine sand and shallow turquoise water with organised bars, sunbeds, and Blue Flag status. Nea Peramos, around 30 km, brings a more lived in seaside town feel with sandy stretches, family tavernas, and small harbour atmosphere. Nea Iraklitsa at around 30 km offers calm waters and pine shaded coves, while Palio at roughly 22 km is known for its yachting harbour, polished seafood scene, and stylish summer evenings. Each of these sits within a 25 to 30 minute drive. Inland, Mount Pangaion rises to the west at around 30 km, a forested range laced with hiking trails, mountain villages, and snowfall in winter that opens the slopes to walks through chestnut and beech woods. The Philippi plain itself, dotted with springs and quiet rural roads, is good country for slow drives and cycling.

The sights around Lydia are exceptional. The Baptistery of Saint Lydia sits within the village itself, marking the spot where Apostle Paul baptised the first European Christian woman. The archaeological site of Philippi, a UNESCO World Heritage monument with its Roman theatre, basilicas, and forum, is around 3 km south. Kavala's old town, castle, port, and museums are around 18 km south, and Drama with its parks and the winter Oneiroupoli festival sits about 18 km north. Mount Pangaion adds monasteries and traditional stone villages for a longer day out.

Local life here is built around food, wine, and the outdoors. The Drama and Pangaion vineyards produce some of the most respected wines in northern Greece, the coast delivers fresh fish and long lazy seaside lunches, and the inland tavernas lean into hearty Macedonian cooking with grilled meats, garden vegetables, and local cheeses. Days are easily spent moving between the beach, the mountain, and the ancient sites, with enough variety to keep a week feeling unhurried. An ideal destination for nature lovers and those seeking authentic local experiences all year round.

Getting Around:

Kavala International Airport "Megas Alexandros" sits around 40 km east of the property and connects to Athens, Thessaloniki, and a range of European cities seasonally. The port of Kavala lies about 18 km south, offering ferries to Thassos and other Aegean destinations, with the port of Keramoti around 35 km away serving the shorter and more frequent Thassos crossing. The Kavala to Drama bus stops roughly 500 metres from the property, useful for quick runs into either city. Having a car opens up the wider region beautifully, letting you move easily between the coast, Mount Pangaion, the vineyards, and the archaeological sites without committing to a single base for the day.

Other Things to Note:

Few corners of Greece let you wake up to the mountain, swim in the Aegean by lunchtime, and walk through a UNESCO site before sunset, all from the same front door.
