Modern house on Orø with fjord view

On the small island of Orø in the Isefjord, this modern cottage has an idyllic view of the fjord and wild grass growing around it, making it feel like a little hut surrounded by the island's nature. The house is located almost at the end of a gravel road, so you can enjoy the surroundings and the beautiful nature undisturbed.



Designed and built by the hosts themselves, the house is built in the shape of a cross - with the kitchen, living room and dining area in open connection and a bedroom and bathroom. This gives the house four terraces, each with both a sunny and a shady spot, so there is always a nice spot to sit down in the summer heat. There is limited hot water, so short baths are the way to go here - in true island style.



The décor is Nordic, light and airy, with details in recycled materials - for example, the hosts built the two daybeds in the living room from old doors, and the wooden side tables are made from an old poplar tree that fell in a storm. In addition to the double bed in the bedroom, the two daybeds in the living room can be used as two single beds or put together to make a double bed.



The living room has the most stunning views through the large doors, which can be opened all the way in the summer heat to make the inside and outside feel like one. If you fancy a dip in the water, Orø's only and very child-friendly beach is within 5 minutes. on foot.



In winter, the wood-burning stove in the living room is the heart of the house, where you can warm up after long, fresh walks on the scenic island.



If you have a dog, it is more than welcome - as long as you keep it on a leash at all times out of consideration for our neighbours. If you arrive at the house by car, please park in our driveway next to the house - no parking on the gravel road. Please note that if you are coming to the island by public transport, the distance from the Holbæk ferry on Orø to the house is 4 kilometres, and there are no taxis on Orø. You can either walk to the cottage or try to get a lift - usually people are very helpful. The hosts are also happy to drop off one or two bikes at the harbour for you.
