The house was built in 1948 and has been in the same family for decades. When the current owners took it over in 2024, they insulated it, built a custom-made kitchen, and updated it to modern standards without compromising its cottage charm.
Inside, there is a handcrafted kitchen and a grand piano that is played frequently. When it’s windy or rainy, there’s a small, old-fashioned patio with heating for chilly evenings, so the weather never really keeps you indoors.
On the large natural grounds, there is a terrace where you can sit and listen to the birds or read a book. In the evening, the fire is lit, dinner is served, and night slowly falls as you sit in the glow of the flames.
Tisvilde Hegn is one of Denmark’s largest forests, featuring burial mounds from the Stone Age and great opportunities to hunt for chanterelles. The beach, which the owners themselves consider the best in the country, is accessible only on foot or by bike, offering a long coastline with dunes and plenty of space for everyone. The area also features flea markets and local markets to explore.
