Perched on a hill on the edge of an ancient primeval forest, this cabin offers a direct view of the mountains through its panoramic window. The cabin area has only 12 cabins dating from the 1970s, so you’ll be completely undisturbed, with no neighbors and no light pollution at night.
The cabin is open and cozy, featuring warm colors, high-quality furniture, and original interior design. The kitchen is well-equipped with a gas grill and a pizza stone. You can enjoy the view from the large terrace. Behind the cabin is a large sauna with a panoramic window and room for everyone, and the hot tub seats five.
From the cabin, the trail leads up through a mixed forest rich in biodiversity, then through an old pine forest with towering trees and past nickel mines dating back to the 1850s, before reaching the birch belt and the high mountains. From the summit of Gråhøa, you’ll have views of Rondane and Jotunheimen.
Within a short drive, you’ll find Helvete Nature Park with Northern Europe’s largest ice pits, Strand Fjellstue with boat rentals, and Dalseter Fjellhotell with ski trails and horseback riding in the summer. Rafting on the Sjoa River, the “Høyt og Lavt” climbing park in Gålå, Lillehammer, and Hunderfossen Family Park are all within an hour’s drive.
The cabin does not have running water, but it has its own well and a water pipe used to fill a tank, so it meets modern standards of comfort.
