About this property

1 Bed in Elsing (oc-d44228)

Whether you’re seeking a memory-making escape or a peaceful getaway surrounded by nature, this beautifully converted horsebox, set in a wildflower meadow, offers the perfect base for your Norfolk adventures. Sleeping up to four guests, this unique bolthole is ideally suited to couples and small families planning days of walking, cycling, and outdoor excursions across wider Norfolk. The sleepy village of Elsing is less than a mile away, while the market town of Reepham (6.5 miles) charms with its local shops and stunning countryside set between the Wensum and Bure Valleys. Fakenham (14.5 miles) boasts one of the area’s most popular weekly markets, while the vibrant city of Norwich (16.5 miles) offers a grand cathedral, a castle, museums, shops, and eateries. The Weavers Way trail, from Aylsham (15.5 miles) to North Walsham (22 miles), follows a disused railway line and is a fantastic option for walking, cycling, and horse riding.

Before stepping into this one-of-a-kind retreat, take a moment to appreciate its peaceful position in a wildflower meadow and its unique design made up of the main horsebox, a choice of decking areas, and a relaxing garden space. Follow the external steps up to the decking, step through the French doors, and be greeted by a studio-style living area. This homely room features a carved ceiling and wood-clad walls, which combine to offer a rustic, cocoon-like ambience for your stay. A central wood burner is on hand for chillier days, while you can leave the French doors open during the warmer months to let the countryside air flow through. The kitchenette features all the essentials for cooking holiday meals and prepping picnics, which can be enjoyed at the table indoors or alfresco out on the decking. Unwind after dinner as you sink into the sofa, which can convert to sleep two additional guests. Above the sofa is your plush king-size bed. Outside, just steps away from the property, make use of the bespoke external shower room, which is private and features a walk-in shower and a composting WC.

Make full use of the generous outdoor space. Gather at the elevated decking, accessed via external steps or internally from the horsebox’s hobbit door, to unwind in the swinging chair as you savour the rural views. At lower level, another decking space features bistro-style furniture for your al fresco meals and evening tipples. Beyond the decking, you’ll find a gravelled seating area surrounded by greenery and centred around a fire pit with a griddle – perfect for BBQs and marshmallow toasting. You’ll also benefit from off-road parking in the on-site car park, with a wheelbarrow provided to help transport luggage across the wildflower field.
