A charming Irish cottage, warm, comfortable, perfect for a Scenic Southwest visit!
Most cottages in Ireland today are purpose-built as rentals and lack history. Ours and our family are steeped in it and you will be as well. Our holiday cottage rental offers a unique experience and you will be welcomed as guests and not just left to fend for yourselves, unless it is quiet seclusion that you desire. It suits those who want a real, preserved, days-of-old-Irish experience, those who want to unwind and decompress, and all while being in the best location for day trips in Ireland’s Scenic Southwest. Originally built in the 1695, and continuously updated, the cottage has 3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms. There are separate dining and living rooms, a fully equipped kitchen and you can enjoy evenings by the romantic cottage fireplace! As a part of the 250 acre Glenlohane farm & estate, we have extensive walking and hiking opportunities on this established bird sanctuary. Though it has been here for centuries, this charming cottage retains many of its original features but it is now fully updated for modern comfort and offers a delightful holiday home rental opportunity for you to enjoy in beautiful North Cork. We offer self-catering accommodation in our historic, exceedingly well maintained, cottage. The cottage has all the modern conveniences that you will require (including WiFi) but retains its centuries’ old character and charm. As part of the 250 acre Glenlohane farm-estate, it’s only a short walk from the main house and is close to our adorable town of Kanturk in North Cork.
Ideal home-base for day trips to see all of Ireland’s Scenic Southwest.

The location of the cottage was excellent for touring as it was just under 3 hours to Dublin, one hour to Cork and Ring of Kerry as well as Rock of Cashel and numerous other interesting locations. It was well equipped, and totally private perfect for couples or a family. Desmond is a well respected and gracious host who was most attentive to our needs. We would highly recommend staying at this beautiful spot.Susan and Richard

If you're looking for a quiet get away that is still close enough to explore, this is it. We used this cottage as our base to explore the area and were not disappointed. I highly recommend this cottage!
The cottage is full of history and very lovely. Surprisingly, all modern amenities are also available. We enjoyed the stay really a lot. The place is a good starting point for tours to Cork and Kerry.

Delightful & bucolic
A fantastic spot from which to base our exploration of southern Ireland. The Gordon, Desmond and Melanie were delightful and knowledgeable hosts who couldn't have made our stay more pleasant. I have already recommended a stay here to friends and can't wait to return!

True country relaxation
Immaculate property set in an ideal private country setting. Location is excellent for exploring South of Ireland. Couldn't have asked for anything more.
Lovely property, quaint yet modern Irish cottage, surrounded by fields of rapeseed. We did a lot of traveling from this spot. Cottage is kept by a lovely family. Hope to stay again!

I would return in a heart beat!
This is an exquisite farmhouse to spend time in! Very comfortable furniture, beautiful farmland, quiet with only the delightful, occasional mooing of cows. We came for a week & wished we were staying longer.

Charming Cottage
The cottage is charming and its location provided the perfect for spot for day trips around Southwest Ireland. Gordon was wonderful in giving us the lay of the land and offering advice on our itinerary--what to see (and what to avoid!). Truly, our hosts made the stay for us, welcoming us into what is clearly a very dear spot to the family. Already plotting our return!
My best friend and I rented this property for 5 nights and can't give it a high enough rave! The location is perfect, the cottage is positively charming and comfortable, and Desmond and Melanie were friendly, informative, and helpful. I would definitely stay here again if I ever get back to this beautiful part of the world!!

Idyllic setting, charming owners who were helpful and gracious, and a beautifully appointed cottage.
Great location. Close to town. Surrounded by rolling fields of barley and hay. Lovely patio with a BBQ. Totally quiet and secluded - but an easy drive to Cork, Dingle, and the Wild Atlantic Way.
Charming cottage, charming owners from a family that has made this estate their home for the last 10 generations.
generations. Great stories included!
The cottage is perfectly located for exploring the south west of Ireland. The nearby town of Kanturk offers eyerything for everyday use. The cottage is very suitable for 5 people. It is very nicely and personally decorated. A large garden and sunny seating area invite you to relax and have afternoon tea. The hosts have lots of tips and Information about the local and wider area. Highly recommended!

Amazing Vacation
My wife and I stayed at the Glenlohane Cottage for our Anniversary/Belated Honeymoon. We were so happy with our time at Glenlohane. The house was very clean and made us feel very welcome and at home. We were a short drive to lots of great locations such as Garnish Island, Rock of Dunamase, Rock of Cashel, and tons more. The owners were extremely helpful and very friendly. My wife and I enjoyed the privacy the location offered and the rustic look but modern amenities the cottage offered. We certainly would stay again.

Cozy, beautiful and perfect
Our family of three stayed here for five days and would have happily lived here forever. Surrounded by rural Irish beauty on the outside, and full of cozy comforts inside. We ate in nearly every night because we loved being there so much. Well outfitted kitchen, great showers, beds piled with comfy linens. A fireplace and fuzzy heated foot warmers take off the chill at night. Our hosts were warm, welcoming and helpful. We've been all around Ireland, and when we come back we have no plans to stay anywhere but here.
We were delighted with this cottage. If you are aware of the Quiet Man starring John Wayne and Maureen O Hara then this is the place for you. It is quaint, comfortable and has everything you need in a beautiful setting. About 3K into Kanturk Town 5- 10 min drive. Front door key was challenging but mastered it. We so enjoyed our stay here. Would recommend. We hope to return.
The cottage is absolutely beautiful and very clean. It is in a country setting close to the towns of Kanturk and Mallow and within an hour to the Ring of Kerry! Desmond was a true delight! So kind, charming, helpful, and knowledgeable about the area! The cottage is listed as a 2Bedroom but actually has a 3rd Bedroom with a twin bed. My 11yr old twins, husband, and I had a fantastic time! Hope to return!!

Glenlohane Cottage near Kanturk, Ireland
The Glenlohane Cottage is a gem! If you're looking for a quiet environment in the south central countryside of Ireland I heartily recommend this. A perfect place to do nothing but relax, reflect and savor the ever-changing skies of Ireland. The Sharp-Bolster family is delightful. They will make you feel welcome and regale you with their fascinating family history. My wife and I loved our stay and will look forward to a return visit. Thank you Melanie, Desmond and Gordon!
Our whole family loved staying at this charming cottage in the beautiful Irish countryside. The owners were exceptionally gracious hosts and made our visit more personal and enjoyable by showing us through the cottage, providing insight into some excellent local attractions and dining locations, and even having us join them at their home for afternoon tea, a few games of croquet, and some friendly conversation. The cottage was very clean, cozy, comfortable, nicely decorated, and perfectly situated for quiet walks along country roads while also providing easy access to many enjoyable attractions. If we return to Ireland, we would not be satisfied staying anywhere else! This MADE our trip!!
My husband and 12-year-old daughter spent a week at Glenlohane and just loved it! Desmond and Melanie were great hosts and we sincerely regret missing their invitation to play croquet one afternoon. The cottage was exactly as advertised and near perfect-very clean and spacious, yet cozy. It was equipped with everything we needed. As others have already said, we would have gladly stayed much longer. This was definitely one of our best vacation rental experiences. The cottage is ca. 2km from a small town with good restaurant choices and grocery stores. The cottage itself has a great history, and it is a great location for exploring southwest Ireland. We would return to Glenlohane with no hesitation.

Best trip we've taken because of the many friendly people we met, such as the Sharp-Bolsters
Our four-night stay at the Glenlohane Stone Cottage in November* was delightful; we wish we had planned to be there for a longer time. We were joined for two of those nights by a sister and her husband, and we were all charmed by the setting. The layout is ideal for two couples, with comfortable privacy for each and roomy shared space, all so attractive and cozy. The Sharp-Bolster Family is welcoming, hospitable and happy to share historical details of the area as well as their abundant personal historical legacy. Desmond kindly coordinated arrangements for us to view a local fox hunt; it was like stepping back in time.

Cozy, Clean, Comfortable & Convenient
This adorable cottage was a perfect place for a visit to the Irish countryside. We based ourselves here for a few days in Cork. Not only does it have an idyllic setting with a beautiful serene view, but it is only a few minutes from the small town of Kanturk and 15 minutes from Mallow. It was a convenient hub for our daily excursions in southern Ireland. The cottage is clean, comfortable and well-equipped; highlights include a working fireplace, excellent wifi, comfortable bedrooms and bathrooms, and a kitchen that should meet any guest's needs. Our hosts were helpful and kind, and we felt we could call on them, if needed, while we were there and even after we left. (They kindly and quickly shipped something I had left behind). I highly recommend The Cottage at Glenlohane for a vacation in Cork.
