The Duo-Loft, an apartment in a historic private building (hotel particulier in French) dating from early 15th century is in Aix's old historic town. It stands in the Archevêché quarter (Festival d'Aix), just a few steps away from the Cathedral, Place des Cardeurs and Hôtel de Ville. A peaceful haven in a lively bourough of old Aix. A STUDIO-LOFT, PEACEFUL & BRIGHT TO APPRECIATE THE SUNNY PROVENCAL WEATHER... This beautiful one-bedroom loft of 36 square meters is found in a tiny quiet street in the heart of Aix's elegant old historic town. It stands on the 1st floor (bedroom in a loft or mezzanine) of a private historic mansion dating from early 15th century, reconstructed in early 17th century. King Louis XIIIth has spent an evening here in November 1622 as an honourable guest of the Borrilli family. This mansion is called Hôtel Borrilli. It is one of the oldest still-standing buildings in Aix and is listed as one of France's protected historical monuments.

Carolina’s lift was perfect. It’s close to many shops and cafes. She helped with places to eat and things to do. Carolina checked in on me to make sure everything was good. The lift had everything I needed. I highly recommend staying away at the Duo Loft.
Lovely, comfortable apartment. Great location. Small well equipped kitchen. Steps are steep, but hand railings are sturdy so they weren't a problem. Carolina was one of the best hosts I have ever had. She answered all emails promptly. She spent time at check in explaining everything and making suggestions. I am an older woman traveling alone and she came when I was leaving to help me with my luggage and even waited till my taxi arrived. It was a pleasure dealing with her and staying in her apartment.
I loved my stay at Duo-Loft! Carolina was such a gracious and helpful host. The apartment was in a great, convenient location in Old Town. The loft was a great space for me and so clean and inviting, but I will note that it could be a bit challenging for anyone who is very tall (I'm 5'5"). I would absolutely stay again!
I spent a week at Duo Loft in the heart of the old city of Aix en Provence. The location was gorgeous and super convenient in the center of town- near shops, cafes and restaurants. My host Carolina was exceptional , greeting me personally when I arrived and showing me the workings of the apartment. Perfect for a solo traveler- or couple.! An amazing experience and so grateful to my amazing host!
Beautifully furnished apartment in the perfect location for access to the Centre Ville.
Comfortable bed, compact but very well-appointed kitchen. Lively but quiet and safe neighborhood.
Gracious host. We highly recommend!
The Duo-Loft is in a fabulous location. Our hosts were very accommodating & communicative - even had several pieces of literature out w/ideas on where to eat, what to do & interesting places to visit. Ceilings are very low so if you are over 6’, you will need to duck in several places. Also, there are very narrow, steep steps w/no railing going up to the bedroom/bath loft so probably not suited for older, unsteady guests. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay!

Thank you for your feedback Forrest and happy to know you did enjoy your stay. Sorry for the low wooden beams in the ceiling, it’s part of the building’s ancient architecture (and solidity), though I did mention about it in my listing. About the stairs going up the bed/bathroom, there is a long metal railing (right side just next to the wall) and runs thru the whole stairs.
All the best!
We had a wonderful stay at Carolina’s lovely apartment in the heart of the old town in Aix-en-Provence. Carolina met us at the apartment & was friendly & welcoming & gave us great recommendations for restaurants & activities during our 4 night stay. I was travelling with my teenaged daughter. As clearly described in the listing, the ceiling height is low in the kitchen downstairs & the bedroom & bathroom upstairs. We are both 5’6” (170cm) which is the perfect height for this apartment as we fit everywhere. If you were much taller, you would need to duck in places. The apartment was beautifully decorated, centrally located & had air conditioning which was very welcome for hot summer days in Aix. We would very happily return to this lovely apartment. Thank you for a great stay, Carolina!
The unit is a cozy studio with a downstairs kitchen and clothes washer (no dryer...you use racks for drying), and a loft for sleeping and bathroom. It is ideally located smack in the center of old town Aix, easy walking distance to any place you might want to get to: open air markets, restaurants and bistros, shops, museums, you name it. Carolina is delightful and responsive as a landlord, and easy to communicate with, especially by WhatsApp. If you have a car rental you can park at Parking Pasteur a five minute walk away. Two things to know: (1) if you are stair phobic, note that the steps to the loft are steep, as are the front door landing steps. And (2) if you are taller than me (5' 10") you will likely bump your head on bump outs in the kitchen and the low ceiling in the loft and bathroom until you figure it out. But we loved the place for our two week stay and will try to stay there again when...not if...we return to Aix. The kitchen is tiny but well-stocked, and we cooked several meals in. Finally, the unit has a TV with a wide range of international programming including CNN, CNBC and BBC, and you can sign in to your Netflix account! Great unit for two people max.
Super nette Gastgeberin. Das Loft sehr schön. Nett eingerichtet.
Carolina was waiting to greet me, bursting with valuable information about the area, market times and things to do. The apartment was totally charming and in a historic building. I loved the ceilings, loft and windows full of light. The galley kitchen had everything one needed for cooking and Carolina even included the coffee, tea, spices and oils as well as some basics to get started! I loved the area and my favourite market was at the end of the block every day. The cathedral is just up the street and all the shopping for necessaries are within meters. A comfortable stay, assisted by a great host! Thank you Carolina. I would return in a heartbeat.
This apartment is beautifully decorated and has everything that one would need for a vacation. It is close to all points of interest and many restaurants and stores. Only one warning -it is very small and the stairs to the front door and to the loft are quite steep. Fine for young people but a bit difficult for older folks like us (80's). And, of course, Aix is wonderful!
Très bel appartement dans le cœur de Aix-en-Provence. Position idéale pour visiter la ville, juste à côté de la cathédrale. Carolina, la propriétaire, est très gentil.
Absolument conseillé.

Stunning location and lovely place!
The Duo-Loft is a wonderful place for a couple to both laze and explore. There couldn't be a more perfect location in the center of Aix, yet quiet and comfortable at night. Carolina was always available via SMS, and the check-in was flawless....but DO listen to the advice to park first and walk to the apartment (it's easy and direct). While the nearby restaurants are amazing in choice and cuisine, we couldn't help but shop at the Friday market on our last night and enjoy cooking "at home". Highly recommended.

Great find!
We felt very lucky to find this charming apartment. It is in the center of the old town, very close to the cathedral, restaurants, and shops. The apartment looks into a quiet, green courtyard so, in spite of its location, it is very peaceful. Carolina, the personable owner, has everything very well set-up, so the stay was a comfortable one. The unit is tastefully decorated, with many conveniences. One thing to note is that the bed and bathroom are up in a loft, so you do have to climb a ladder to get to them. This was not a problem for us. The bed was very comfortable, although the person sleeping by the wall does have to climb over the other to get up in the middle of the night as there is no floor space on one side or the foot of the bed. With all the charm, the light from the windows, the thoughtful set-up, the location, and the reasonable price, this apartment is a great find!

What an extraordinary place to stay!
Carolina's Studio Loft has everything one could wish for in a short or long-term stay. It is in a beautiful 1610 hotel particulier (mansion), with two big windows looking out at old cypress trees, sunny, and quiet. The furnishings are comfortable and chic--lacking nothing. Located in the historic district the Cathedral, Hotel de VIlle and daily outdoor markets are footsteps away, not to mention the many restaurants and cafes. And Carolina is most welcoming and helpful. Five stars!!!

Excellent
My husband and I stayed at the loft for one week. The listing was as described. It was in a beautiful old building on a side street and very quiet. The kitchen was stocked with milk, coffee, snacks etc. to get us started. The location was perfect, close to markets, restaurants and all amenities. Carolina was very accommodating and helpful. She even made dinner reservations for us. If you are traveling to Aix you can't go wrong by renting this place. We truly enjoyed our stay. I very highly recommend it.

Thanks Anne, I was happy to have you & your husband as guests, it was a great experience.
I sincerely hope to have you both again in the future.
Take care and all the best!
Born in the Philippines, I have spent most of my life in major European cities m (Brussels, Milan & Paris) where I had a rich, active professional life in international banking. Based now in Aix-en-Provence and loving a more relaxed pace of life in a smaller, sunnier city. I love traveling, cooking, home décoration and history. I speak fluent English, French, Italian and Tagalog (have to brush up my Spanish though). Hope to see you soon in Aix!
Why they chose this property
I chose Aix-en-Provence simply because life is beautiful out here!
What makes this property unique
I fell in love with this loft apartment and its 15th century building standing on the vibrant, medieval part of the city. Modern facilities inside my peaceful loft in such an ancient building - charm and comfort all in one for such a competitive price! Hope to see you soon in Aix!
