"Czech Mate", Steps From Sound & Gulf, Kayaks Included, Private Beach, West End

**WE ARE NOW OFFERING 3 NIGHT'S STAY ONLY BETWEEN THE DATES OF JUNE 13-19 & JULY 18-31.**

*We are now offering the use of our 2 kayaks year round for our renters during their stay. Enjoy watching the dolphins from the "Czech Mate", that has a private beach to the Mississippi Sound/Bay side! Our home is just a short walking distance to West End Beach. Enjoy picturesque views of the water (Gulf & Sound) from every window! This beautiful home has granite counter tops, tile flooring, crown molding, & an open floor plan. Relax on the back porch watching the wildlife & boats on the beautiful Bay side or from the front of the house by watching & hearing the Gulf of Mexico waves. Only steps to the beach of the Sound & to the Gulf. You can kayak in the Sound right behind the house. A bike path goes from the West End through town. You can bring your own bikes or rent one up the road. There are 4 bedrooms, sleeps 8 (3 queen beds, 2 twin beds, & 2 roll away cots). 2 bathrooms with the master bath having a walk-in & shower. Linens & towels are provided. The house has fiber internet. Pet friendly (limit of 2 dogs & non-refundable). Pet fee is $75 per dog if 2 dogs. $100 for one dog. No smoking is allowed. There are 5 tv's (1 in each bedroom & 1 in the great room with a DVD player). The t.v. in the great room is a smart t.v.. The dining table seats 6 & there are 4 bar stools at the breakfast bar. Amenities include: Outdoor shower, internet, dishes, utensils, electric griddle, crock pot, dishwasher, microwave, stove, oven, stainless steel refrigerator, coffee maker, washer/dryer, toaster, board games, books, dvd's, & charcoal grill under the house. The Mississippi Sound/Bay side has great fishing, & dolphins are often sighted from both the Gulf & the Sound. You can kick back & relax in the porch swing or rope swing under the house.

To access the Gulf beach, just walk a few steps across the road & you can set up a canopy tent, chairs, etc. This is free to do. For the Mississippi Sound/Bay side beach, just walk down the back steps of the house & you have your own private beach up to the Sound. West End Beach is also close to the house.

Please have your dogs on a flea & tick prevention medicine. Just for your information, the Town of Dauphin Island requires all dogs to be on a leash and properly secured when outdoors and also requires that dog waste from rental property yard, beaches and public areas be picked up and properly disposed of. We know you will enjoy our home as much as we do!

Overall, the stay was good. The icemaker is going to have to have the seals checked.The chopped ice is melting in the door and refreezing. There were quite a few rules on the fridge on arrival. My wife and I really enjoyed the sound side. Very peaceful back there. The kayaks are fairly nice. There are backs on the seats with footrests that are not adjustable, but had different ones for different heights.

I’m just gonna say it’s a pretty house not what I expected. Amenities aren’t much kitchen. Utensils aren’t much. There’s no comforts beds are hard. Pillows were hard. The shower barely runs. The couches weren’t comfortable. The porch wasn’t even comfortable to sit on. It was small with a bunch of bunch of chairs that sit below the balcony. I wouldn’t rent it again.

The house is beautiful and nicely decorated without being “over the top”. We were very comfortable there and our dogs LOVED being out on the back porch. The area was so peaceful and I hope to go back in the future.

I am so glad we were able to make Czech Mate our home for a few days of rest and relaxation. It's a lovely place, super clean, and had everything we needed. I was especially grateful for the slow cooker so I could put a few ingredients in it in the morning and have dinner all ready in the evening. We enjoyed the kayaks and beach area and watching movies in the evening.

Our refrigerator guy was down to the house twice but could not get in when we asked you to leave the key in the lock box you didn’t. Also you would not answer phone calls to you so communication was difficult. To be fair we don’t feel like there was anything we could have done differently to help the situation. The house was great and had plenty of space for our family of five. The sound was amazing! Having never been to Dauphin Island, we didn’t fully know what to expect, but the sand was soft, the water was amazing to wade or swim. Sitting on the back deck, listening to the waves and birds was breathtaking, and we saw dolphins out there every day. Though we often drove down to the bridge or east end of the island, it was nice being at the west end and being able to walk that beach for miles. Highly recommend this house for a low-key, relaxing trip.

My wife, dog and I stayed at Czech Mate over New Years. The house is beautiful and clean. Our dog loved swimming in the bay. The front and rear porches are excellent places to relax with a coffee and listen to the waves crash.

We had a great time! The house is very clean and the location is great. It is all the way on the West End beach side. You can cross the street for beach access, a very simple walk. Or go out the back porch to the bay side. The house has a stocked kitchen full of everything you'd need. The TV in the living room has steaming services. The owners are very kind and communicative. Can't wait to come back!

Our family has been vacationing on beautiful Dauphin Island, Alabama for years. It is our peaceful sanctuary & we would start to dread to leave the island days before we had to go back to Tennessee. God has blessed us immensely by allowing us to finally have a permanent home on the island. Words cannot describe how thankful we are to our Lord for giving us this peace of heaven on such a picturesque island. The house was named “Czech Mate” due to our Czechoslovakian ancestry. From seeing dolphins to swimming in the waves of the gulf or bay or watching the beautiful sunsets in the evening (Dauphin Island is the Sunset Capital of Alabama), we cannot get enough of this amazing place. We know you will enjoy our home & incredible Dauphin Island as much as we do!!

Why they chose this property

Dauphin Island, Alabama is such a unique, quaint, beach town. We love the quietness of the island & the beauty & charm. We like that Dauphin Island is not overrun by tourist sites, but has many fun activities for all ages. We chose this location for it's closeness to the Gulf & the Bay/Mississippi Sound. We have the best of both worlds, with the Gulf & the Sound just steps from our home. We also have a private beach behind the house, & we love the West End of the island.

What makes this property unique

We wanted to see & hear the Gulf/Ocean waves from our home & the Mississippi Sound, so this was the absolute perfect place for us! It never gets old opening the curtains in the morning & seeing the fins of dolphins break the surface. The sunsets are beautiful from our location & the peace & tranquility of our area is a sanctuary to us.
